How do I know when the time is right? How do I start?

What is the "proper" attitude when chanting or reciting Gongyo, the meditations etc... How do we control our thoughts?

Why do we recite 5 times in morning Gongyo and only 3 in the evening...?

Nichiren closes this letter to a lay Monk and teacher of a rural community with some notes on how to help students understand the life and hardships withstood by Nichiren, by offering sutr quotes and encouragement. He closes with thanks for all the monk's works and efforts to p[ropagate and his support of Nichiren.

Nichiren begins this letter with a couple of fundamental aspects of Buddhist practice.

Actually a letter addressed to two Nuns of the same region and meant as a deep appreciation for offerings made to Nichiren's survival.

One aspect of the creation of life, the process of "life" the manifestation of some thing from potential energy or Noumena; the Skandhas are inextricable from the Nidanna, the Ten Factors and the Ten Worlds and the 3000 Realms in a single thought moment.

In closing this letter, Nichiren reiterates from the texts of Shakyamuni's teachings the relative position of various schools and leaders and the supreme position of the Lotus Sutra as the culminating and in fact the actual goal of the Buddha's teaching or Dharma. Nichiren points to quotes from the Lotus that indicate ordinary people with no scholarship in Buddhism who fervently practice the Lotus teachings of MyoHoRenGeKyo as the one vehicle path to Buddhahood are in fact superior in knowledge and practice than all the Bodhisattvas and leaders of temples and schools that do not recognize the lotus teachings as preeminent.

To be 'expert' and become an authority on any teaching, it is an imperative to study the fundamental and original authorship of a teaching and follow critically its content. To deviate from a teaching for one's own political or financial gain is an aberration of the original teaching and intent. This is trus in any discipline. Sure, you are free to create your own offshoot, but never as a replacement of the original. This is the main point of Nichiren's discussion in this part of the Gosho

In this part Nichiren analyzes the fallacies of Jikaku's dream inspired commentaries as a composition outside of the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. This is an example of the Buddha's caution to follow the Law and not to follow the persons. Jikaku is an excellent example of the hundreds of years of tradition obfuscating the true and correct teachings of Buddha. Nichiren then shows how he is in fact the actual teacher of the teachings in the lineage of Nagarjuna, Vasubandhu, Tien-Tai Chi che, Miaoli and Dengyo.
