WAVES
This event was a FREE, LIMITED SEATING ENGAGEMENT, inspired by the Call to Action from the children of Fred T. Korematsu, Min Yasui, and Gordon Hirabayashi to create an opportunity for artists and storytellers, regardless of performing experience, to rise and share their artistic expression in hopes that we do not go down a similar path in history that led to the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII.
This event showcased seasoned performers as well as nurture and cultivate new artists, and that this multi-generational, cross-cultural event will have a ripple effect resonating with people beyond the San Francisco Bay Area.
Performers include:
Francis Wong
Genny Lim
Brynn Saito
Fatima Mekkaoui
Pete Yamamoto
Yukiya Jerry Waki
Special guest appearance by Karen Korematsu, executive director of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute.
