Off the producer's bench and into the host's seat for the first hour of the program today was Jason Regan with John Casey on national basketball duties in Sydney. Case has been calling the action as the Opals look to become world champions in a very hot field. Andrew McLeod was also on location for today's program, having chaired the Norm Smith Medal voting at the AFL Grand Final the previous day. Brett Maher raised the issue that only the participating players and senior coach from the victors receive a premiership medal on AFL Grand Final day. Bunji shared a story about the 1997 premiership celebration in which he felt so bad for Tony Modra, who had been seriously injured in the preliminary final, he gave him his premiership medal for the evening which Modra later returned.
