You might have noticed a re-occurring theme this round: what do we do when things get tough? When life throws us a curve ball. When schedules get busy. When things happen that are out of our control?
In this episode, I interview Laura Daly Trottier who tells us about her story and how she was able to ground herself when the going got hard. REALLY HARD. Ever since Laura stepped foot into my group, she has been 110% committed to her health and fitness. She's a fierce competitor. An encourager. An outstanding runner. Loves a new challenge and has really embraced the community aspect of Burns Fitness. Last winter, even she, as dedicated as she was, was faced with some challenging circumstances that made investing in her health and fitness quite tricky to navigate. Join us as we chat about the all consuming challenge this circumstance presented, the struggle of it not being fully within her control and how Laura managed to ground herself and adapt her plan to help herself navigate the nutty.
Thank you for taking the time to share this story with us Laura! I have always very much looked up to you as a person and my respect for you has only increased since getting to know you more through coaching! You are one strong as heck woman! Although I have been with you through many "mountain top times" such as hitting weight loss goals, running the last stretch of a race together, guiding you with strength programs and watching you become stronger - NEVER did I see you stronger than when I watched you dig your heels in this winter and fight for your fitness. I hope your story speaks as much to everyone listening as it did to me while you were living through it!
What I hope you can take away from this ongoing theme is that - we all have our hard. Life is full of hard and challenging things that we have to navigate through, on so many different levels: personal, marriage, kids, family, work, health, etc. There is a way to navigate these times without throwing in the towel but rather simply adapting the plan to fit the curve ball. In my experience, many people don't ever get to their longed for goals because every time something happens they quit and start over months later only for something else to happen then the cycle repeats itself. If you can ground yourself and find a way to "navigate the nutty" you will not only get to your goals but you will stay there once you arrive.
