Elaine and I just wrapped one of the most fascinating studies we’ve had yet in our journey through the book of Job. What began as a discussion about Elihu suddenly opened into something much bigger. We found ourselves tracing patterns from Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Elijah, John the Baptist, and even the coming of Christ himself. The deeper we dug, the more it felt like Job was telling the story of Israel’s exile, suffering, restoration, and ultimately God bringing His people to Himself through grace and not mere outward wisdom. There were moments in this discussion where I honestly had to stop and just thank the Lord for opening my eyes to connections I had never seen before.

This episode also turned deeply personal as Elaine and I reflected on suffering, rejection, faith, and how God uses difficult seasons to refine us. Elihu’s sudden appearance in the story sparked a powerful conversation about the younger prophet class, the spirit of Elijah, John the Baptist preparing the way, and how God continually tears down human pride to reveal Himself in the whirlwind.
