If you’re anything like me, and trained in yoga with western teachers (mine were incredible btw) you might not have learned much about Sanskrit in your yoga teacher training. And while I feel moderately confident in my knowledge of Sanskrit asana names, I lacked a deeper understanding of the genuine power of the “mother language of Sanskrit”, at least, that is until my friend Tara D’Cruz Noble introduced me to the work on Sunita Patil.
Sunita has over 30 years of experience in the personal practice of yoga, and recorded 15000 hours of teaching experience. She has taught thousands of students worldwide (Australia, USA and India) She is renowned for her depth of understanding in the ancient language of yoga, Sanskrit, and has taught Sanskrit to yoga teachers and teachers in trainings all over the Sydney.
After chatting with Sunita I feel inspired to expand my knowledge (& pronunciation) of Sanskrit, and can’t wait to start incorporating the so-hum mantra Sunita shared in this episode into my meditation practice.
