Welcome back to The Cabincast, Your Getaway Primer!

This week we "relished" our chance to interview Supper Club expert Ron Faiola!

Ron Faiola has been called "Wisconsin's legacy filmmaker" and a "supper club guru." His best-selling book series, Wisconsin Supper Clubs - An Old Fashioned Experience (2013), and Wisconsin Supper Clubs - Another Round (2016), helped ignite supper club fever in the Badger State. His years of supper club research have led to a third book in the series, The Wisconsin Supper Clubs Story - An Illustrated History With Relish, due to be released in November 2021.

Welcome back to The Cabincast, Your Getaway Primer!

This week Kristin and Erik interview Tiffany Grade of The Loon Preservation Committee

After earning a Ph.D. in medieval history, Tiffany Grade realized bird conservation was her real passion and completed a master's degree in conservation biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She began working for the Loon Preservation Committee in 2008 as Squam Lakes Biologist, leading LPC's intensive research, monitoring, management, and outreach efforts to understand the causes of the declines in Squam's loon population and restore a healthy population of loons to the lake.

She was the lead author of a paper published in the Journal of Wildlife Management on the population-level effects of lead fishing tackle mortality on New Hampshire’s loons.

Welcome back to The Cabincast, Your Getaway Primer!

This week Kristin and Erik interview the world-renowned architect, author, and true "Cabinologist" Dale Mulfinger.

Dale Mulfinger was born and raised on a dairy farm in Minnesota, and the rural landscape and vernacular architecture have informed his many designs. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, he worked nationally and internationally before becoming a Founding Partner in 1983 of what is now SALA Architects, Inc. The breadth of his work at SALA includes modest remodels and additions, lakeside cabins, along with urban and rural homes from St. Paul to Buenos Aires.

He taught architectural studios at the University of Minnesota and other schools from 1976 to 2013. He is a fellow of the American Institute of Architecture and author of six books include The Architecture of Edwin Lundie, Cabinology, and The Cabin. He has authored over 100 articles in regional and national magazines and his sustaining research on cabins has earned him the title, “Cabinologist”. He along with his wife and chef Jan Mulfinger, have lived in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis for 40 years, raising two daughters.

In 2015 he was named “Architect of Distinction” by AIA-MN and Midwest Home magazine.
