The Calling's "To All the Dreamers" with Dr. Chrysandra Brunson

Welcome back to All the Dreamers, the show where we celebrate stories of resilience, redemption, and the pursuit of lifelong dreams. Today’s guest embodies all of that and more.

We’re honored to sit down with Mike Flynt—a man whose journey is nothing short of extraordinary. Mike was once the captain of his college football team, an All-Conference player, and later a strength and conditioning coach who even trained the National Guard at the Pentagon. His passion has always been helping others improve their lives physically, but his own story is one of perseverance, faith, and second chances.

Mike grew up the son of a World War II hero, started boxing at just six years old, and faced battles both in and out of the ring. He wasn’t raised in a Christian home, and his college career ended abruptly when he was kicked off the team as a senior. But decades later, at the age of 59, Mike did the unthinkable—he walked back onto that same college football field, reclaiming his dream and proving it’s never too late.

His remarkable journey is now captured in the Angel Studios film The Senior, a powerful story that explores family struggles, faith, and the courage to dream again. Married to his wife Eileen for 53 years, it was her influence that led Mike to a life-changing faith in Christ, shaping the man he is today.

So get ready to be inspired by a story of grit, grace, and the relentless pursuit of purpose. This is Mike Flynt, here to remind us all that dreams don’t have an expiration date.

Welcome to To All the Dreamers, the radio show and podcast where faith meets purpose, and where stories of perseverance remind us that God wastes nothing. I’m your host, Dr. Chrysandra Brunson, and today’s conversation is filled with courage, calling, and conviction.

Our guest is actor, retired LAPD officer, and United States Army veteran Tom Ohmer—a man whose life has moved from the battlefield to the badge, and from the streets of Los Angeles to the screen.

Many remember Tom from his appearance on the iconic television series Dynasty, starring the legendary Joan Collins. But what makes his Hollywood story so unique is that his acting career began accelerating because of his real-life experience in law enforcement. After joining the Los Angeles Police Department, Tom began taking on police roles in film and television and eventually became a trusted technical advisor—bringing authenticity and integrity to the industry.

After retiring from the police force, his acting career continued to flourish—but not without highs and lows. Like many dreamers, Tom has walked through seasons of triumph and seasons of testing. And through it all, one Scripture has anchored his life:

“I know what it is to be in need… I have learned to be content… I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:12–13.

That verse has not just been something he quotes—it has been something he has lived.

In recent years, Tom has been especially proud of focusing on faith-based and family-oriented projects—stories that reflect hope, redemption, and joy. His film Sarah’s Oil has reached an incredible 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and is resonating powerfully with audiences. In Natherius, a faith-based thriller, he is part of a story that leaves people laughing and uplifted. In Judge Leah, he has boldly helped signal to the entertainment industry that there is a hunger for meaningful, values-driven storytelling. He recently completed Meet Mr. Booker, a modern-day romantic film, and in Adam’s Fire—which he wrote, produced, and acted in—he demonstrates what it looks like to take ownership of your calling and create the stories you believe the world needs.

But beyond the screen, Tom’s heart has always been about service.

From serving in the Army to answering the call to protect and serve in the police department, his life reflects a deep desire to make a difference. He mentors aspiring actors, including those connected to the Navy SEAL community, helping warriors transition into new purpose-driven careers. He pours back into his roots in Indiana, returning to his high school to speak into the lives of students—offering perspective, hope, and the reminder that where you start does not limit where God can take you.

Deeply involved in his church, Tom believes in praying about everything. Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes the answer is no. But in both, there is guidance. In both, there is growth. In both, there is the Holy Spirit leading the way.

Today, we’ll explore how he has persevered through success and struggle, how faith has shaped his resilience, and how the Holy Spirit has helped him serve the world in every uniform he has worn.

Dreamers, if you’ve ever wondered how God can use every chapter of your life—the battles, the setbacks, the breakthroughs—this conversation is for you.

Stay with us as we step into a powerful dialogue with Tom Ohmer—because here on To All the Dreamers, we believe every calling matters, and every dream surrendered to God becomes part of something far greater than we could ever imagine.

In this episode, Chrysandra Brunson and Rich Gamble embark on a deep dive into the life-changing vision of the Eternal Wall, a national landmark that celebrates the miracles in everyday lives. With the weight of constructing a project of this magnitude, Rich recounts the trials and the faith it took to overcome obstacles over the years, including securing land and finding financial support. Through it all, Rich's story is a testament to acting upon the dreams God gives us, and how backing down is never an option when divine purpose is at the forefront.
