The Camden Catch-Up

It’s Halloween week in Camden County, and apparently we are celebrating! 

This week’s Camden CatchUp has a little bit of everything: a very early morning book release, campfire stories (without the mosquitoes), wine tasting, trivia, live theater, trick-or-treating, and even some snakes. Because why not?

We also have a golf tournament, a BBQ competition, a little creativity with margaritas, and plenty of opportunities to put those Halloween costumes to work!

And don’t forget …some great things are coming up in November and December, too!

• It's the release of A Court of Splintered Harmony. One More Chapter Bookseller opens at 7:30.  Novel Brews opens at 8 AM!

Toys for Tots

The holiday season is right around the corner, and Toys for Tots is working to bring Christmas joy to children in our community. Look for local opportunities to donate and get involved.

Project Headstrong – The Belonging Project

50 kids. 50 bikes. 50 helmets.

The Belonging Project is bringing Camden County together to put bicycles into the hands of local children this December.

Just $100 sponsors a bicycle and helmet, but donations of any size make a difference!

Volunteers are also needed for bicycle assembly on December 4 and a special distribution celebration on December 5 at Crooked River State Park.

There's plenty happening around Camden County this week, and we've rounded up the good stuff!

We're kicking things off with a St. Marys City Council candidate forum, open mic night at The Green Room, and music bingo at Southern River Walk. Midweek brings a Rotary blood drive, paint and sip on base, Bike Night at Axes & 8ights, and a gathering of the St. Marys Pirates Club.

As we head into the weekend, things get a little spooky! St. Marys Little Theatre presents Sasquatched: The Musical, Super Sweet Bake Shop hosts a Halloween-themed paint and sip, and the Kingsland train transforms from a family-friendly Halloween adventure into a Zombie Train after dark.

Saturday also features the Okefenokee Science Symposium, a farmers market, creepy crawlies at the library, a second birthday celebration for The Café at Cottle & Gunn, and an afternoon of Vivaldi at Orange Hall. Not to mention plenty of opportunities to enjoy Crooked River State Park!

Sunday is packed with community favorites, including the Southeast Georgia Fall Author Festival at One More Chapter Bookseller, the Downtown St. Marys Scarecrow Stroll, a community outreach fair, and line dancing with Melanin in Motion.

And we're wrapping up with two opportunities to make a difference for local kids: Toys for Tots and Project Headstrong, a new initiative from The Belonging Project that puts bicycles and helmets into the hands of children in our community.

This week starts on the civic side of things, with several chances to get informed before election season really ramps up.
