The exposition on Babylon as an archetype continues in this teaching.

One of the clearest instructions for living in Babylon is seen in what the Jews call the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) because Babylon is beyond just a city. It is a system.

Some things to look out for in "Babylon" include:

-  Human power exalted above God.

-  Progress detached from righteousness.

-  Security is built on oppression.

-  Violence is displayed as a necessity.

-  Pride excused as wisdom.

Knowing about this system of "Babylon" and of the antichrist should lead us to three things:

1.  You have to conquer money. Don’t let money own you or control your life. 

2.  Learn to discern the Babylon of your time.

3.  You have to learn to keep your integrity despite being in Babylon.

God ordered the world with his light, but in sin, man refused God’s light and brought darkness into the human experience. 

This sermon aims to answer the question: "What has God done with the darkness He has bound?" The concept of archetypes is explained and emphasized as this question is addressed.

Archetypes are historical events, figures, or patterns of divine action that became a repeated template through which Bible authors interpreted new events. 

So whatever God did about darkness in the human experience was already shown in history. 

Babylon is an archetype, a system used to describe darkness with a structure. It is used to explain how human rebellion becomes systematic, organized, and self-sustaining.

In God’s design, God wants mankind to govern what He has created to continue shining God’s light. But what happened? Man sinned. Human rebellion brought in darkness. Darkness that was once bounded began to expand into human experience.

There are three things to note from this:

1.  Man was created into God’s light and order.

2.  Man’s function is to facilitate that order and reflect that light.

3.  When God’s order is rejected, darkness can rule.

Darkness became something people loved. But God had a plan. The solution to the darkness in the world is the Light of God; he came into the world to bring that light.

Jesus is God’s salvation to the world. He’s the solution to all the world’s problems.

‎‎”Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3).

‎In this sermon, we are taught what exactly this text means- not reading into the text but doing a proper Bible study on what it means for there to be light.

As we start this ‘Year of Light’, it is important that we understand what it means to be light and how to go about it.

It will be fruitless to pray for everything to be perfect in the new year, when it goes without saying that bad seasons are sure to show up.

God will not always remove the difficulties or moments of confusion. But He will instruct you on what to do in those times.

The point is to build the kind of fortitude in you that can withstand even more difficult times in the future. 

2026 will not only be a better year; you will become a better ‘you’.

- Allowing God to make you stronger than ever through tests.

- Refraining from replacing God with the blessings that He has given to you.

- Living as if Jesus is coming tomorrow.

- Using your career, business, or other relevant positions that you might occupy for the spread of the gospel,

- Being responsible for the kingdom of God.

- Doing what it takes to cause an impact.

In this teaching, we were reminded to count our blessings regardless of our circumstances. Not because we are better than those who have experienced hurt or loss, but so we can realign our priorities and recognize why our year was truly successful.

It was a good year because God was on your side and you were on His. We count it as a good year because everything God said, He did.

We were taught the many reasons we have to be thankful.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. There was darkness, and He said let there be light. Whatever God wants to do, He does by His word, by speaking.  And the same God who created everything by His voice decided to come to this earth in the person of Jesus. 

Jesus also spoke, and the earth responded. He cursed the fig tree, and it withered.

If our God is a speaking God, and we are offspring of Him, then we must be a people who speak.

One of the most important characteristics of God that must be evident in us is prophecy. Everything God did, He said it first. And so God can give utterance for prophecy just as He gives for tongues, that there will be no guesswork, that precision can be given.

Prophecy is not just predicting the future; it is communicating God’s plan, and prophecy can be trusted.

God says a thing before He does it, and since God is never silent about His plan, you can expect prophecy, and you can walk in it.

How do you do this?

1. Desire prophecy.

2. Walk in love.

3. Surround yourself with the right people who can stir up that gift.

God did not give the law because people were righteous. He gave it because injustice was rising unchecked.

God cares about people more than we think. God showed up for Abel when he was killed unjustly. He responded to injustice by flooding the Earth. He also destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their injustice.

God cares for every single human being, regardless of tribe or status. He cares that you advocate for those who cannot do so for themselves. In the city of God, he disallows injustice. And if you are the city of God, you ought not to act unjustly.

We are to love God and love people just as much.

We learn much more about the just nature of God in this sermon, and how we are to respond to injustice while on Earth.

The plan of God is not for Christians to gather in a city, hide, and expect God to always show up for them. God's plan is for Christians who have been transformed by His Spirit to go into cities of the world to cause the same transformation that they have experienced.

Every believer is the city of God who open the gates of heaven for more people to join God's kingdom. While believers are here on earth, they are Heaven on Earth.
