Recruited from local Geelong club, Barwon, this week’s guest Ian Nankervis played for 17 seasons from 1967 to 1983 chalking up an incredible 325 games along the way.
Ian captained the Geelong Football Club from 1978 to 1981, and again in 1983.
The career of Ian Nankervis can be viewed as being comprised of two quite separate phases.
Originally a forward pocket-rover, he booted 203 goals before being shifted into defence where he combined wonderfully with younger brother Bruce.
A three-time Carji Greeves Medal winner, Ian Nankervis also represented Victoria on 12 occasions.
