But the connection he felt in reaching young men confirmed he had made the right choice to hang up his cleats and pick up a clipboard. Over time, he built a strong resume, gaining experience in nearly every phase of the game. From position coach to coordinator on both sides of the ball, and even teaching himself how to coach linemen, Tootle worked his way up the coaching ladder with relentless dedication.
