In the northeast, one family has provided several police departments with a special kind of therapy: comfort dogs. For makeup artist Chanel Abrams, working for CBN News is "a perfect blend of makeup and ministry." 

Chanel does makeup and hair for CBN's reporters, anchors, and news guests at the network's Washington Bureau.

“I feel like my makeup is my ministry,” she says with a smile after a busy morning.

Chanel shares the challenges of her job, makeup tips and why it's such a blessing to work for a Christian network today on the CBN News Daily Rundown.

“Not a lot of people actually realize what a producer does…none of my friends even know what I do – let’s be honest. I don’t think my family even understands it,” says Shoshannah Nuñez, producer of CBN's evening newscast, Faith Nation.

Today on the CBN News Daily Rundown Nuñez sheds light on what she does and why her job, mysterious as it is, is pretty indispensable. She also tells us about some of the crazy stressful situations she finds herself in on a daily basis.

The German government announced today that anti-Semitic violence rose sharply last year alongside an increase in the far-right. However, if the far-right is the main threat to Jews, then why are some German Jews joining a so-called "Nazi" Party?

“There is a real Neo-Nazi movement that’s violent and creepy, but Alternative for Germany (AFD) looks like the Republican Party,” says CBN News Senior Correspondent Dale Hurd.

He breaks down this ironic phenomenon today on the CBN News Daily Rundown.

"This visit was a lot more emotional for me," says CBN News Correspondent Heather Sells. 

Heather has reported from the US border with Mexico many times, but this time she spent with border patrol agents was different.

"I was with them when they were apprehending families. I saw several families that as soon as they got over the border and border patrol took them into custody there were just tears streaming down their faces – one dad in particular and it was very moving and the border patrol agents were saying ‘You’re safe, you’re safe’,” she recalls.

"And in my mind, and I’m thinking the family’s minds, they’re thinking 'yes, thank God I’m safe right now. I just made it past all that danger and violence in my home country and in Mexico,' but of course, they don’t know their future… and there’s a very good chance they’ll be sent back to Mexico.”

One of those folks is Mario Gonzalez who is a videographer and editor in CBN's Washington Bureau.

"I grew up stuttering at a real young age. I just had a really hard time expressing myself, talking to people and art and photography became my outlet of expression."

Gonzalez says he realized early on that he had a gift for photography, "I've given my talents to God. I've asked Him to put me at the right place at the right time so my gifting can be a blessing to those around me," he says.

And through his work covering the news, he says "It's become easier and easier to see people through the eyes of God, the lens of God."

"I'm always amazed at how much time and effort and money people invest in evil," Mideast correspondent Julie Stahl said of her recent experience exploring a terror tunnel built by Hezbollah. 

She and Mideast Bureau Chief Chris Mitchell recently traveled to the Israeli border with Lebanon to get a tour of the most recent attempt by Iran-backed Hezbollah to infiltrate Israel. They're on today's CBN News Daily Rundown.

"When you talk to these mothers it's not the monster that you see on television...most of the time they are people who didn't get the life lessons that God allowed me to have. I had one mother who told me that she was never told that she was fearfully and wonderfully made until she was in prison," Amber Strong said on today's CBN News Daily Rundown. 

The number of women going to prison is rising. If those women are mothers, they lose the opportunity to see their children grow up, connect with them and make positive memories. 

The GEM program is working to heal those relationships.
