Although Clarksville, Arkansas is relatively safe, it is not free from criminal activity. The University of the Ozarks is a pillar in Clarksville, and from time to time, it also faces some criminal cases. In today's episode, we talk with Mr. Larry Graham, former police officer and actual director of Public Safety for the University of the Ozarks. We will talk about his background, studies, and life as a police officer, as well as talking about his actual position as director of Public Safety. We will touch base on important topics such as crimes in the University of the Ozarks, talking about the Annual Security & Fire Safety Report, which describes criminal cases in & off campus, such as rape cases, and how the university handles those cases. We also discuss whether or not a rape allegation should be enough to enforce action against a student and what are the options for a victim and how the university acts in cases like that.

In today’s episode, we talk with Nicole England, the actual Walton Scholarship director working at the University of the Ozarks to talk about her life, background, curious facts about her life, family and education that led her to her actual job positions, but also to talk about several important topics such as the scholarship itself and its impact in the lives of the scholars, how the impact of the scholarship is measured both by the Walton Foundation, and by Nicole as the director, and whether or not the scholarship is truly impacting our countries in a positive way.

We also touch base on how involved is Jim Walton, Walmart co-owner and the main head behind the Walton International Scholarship Program, how Walton scholars are selected and what criteria they use, and topics that concern Walton scholars, such as an increase in the monthly allowance and the retention of the transcripts for four years after graduating.

The Walton International Scholarship Program started back in 1985, amidst the fight between powers in the Cold War. According to their official website, "During a trip to Central America in early 1985, the Waltons learned Central American students were being recruited to colleges in the former Soviet Union. They, however, believed it was critical to expose Central American students to the virtues of democracy and capitalism. In May of 1985, the Waltons responded with a donation to three respected, faith-based Arkansas institutions – Harding University, John Brown University and University of the Ozarks – to fund scholarships for students in each of the seven countries of Central America and later, Mexico."

In this episode we had the opportunity to talk with Dr. William Clary, professor of Spanish at the University of the Ozarks and former Walton Scholarship Program director to talk more about his life, how he has mastered his Spanish along the time, and how he has a closer and more different relationship with the Latino community. We will also talk about his adventures all over Latin America throughtout his life, and how his work has already left an impact and a legacy in the University of the Ozarks, where he has been working for 17 years.

For our first episode, I wanted to have a talk with Rich Dunsworth, president of the University of the Ozarks, located in Clarskville, Arkansas. Dunsworth started his tenure as president in 2013, but he has way more experience that can lead us more than 20 years ago. A Political Science major, Dunsworth was born in the plains of Colorado. We will discover more about president Dunsworth and his life, as well as more about his tenure as president of the University of the Ozarks, his biggest achievement and toughest decision he had to take as the main leader of Ozarks, as well as important topics such as International students and their importance, addressing how college students manage parties and alcohol consumption, the Walton International Scholarship Program and the issues and inconveniences that Walton Scholars have when coming to study to the United States, among other topics that we find along the way.
