Welcome to Episode 2! In this episode, I dive into the topic of "Daddy Issues"—exploring what the term means, how it's often used to demean women, the stigmas attached to it, and the cultural and religious influences surrounding it. I also share my personal experiences and how I’ve worked through them.

I don’t believe that women with “daddy issues” are “defective,” despite society’s best efforts to make us feel that way. Growing up in a broken home doesn’t doom you to a life of hardship or mean you deserve any less.

In this episode, I thought it would be interesting while I take this unintended break from the corporate world to reflect from a distance and share my learnings and advice with you all (check out episode one for my most recent corporate experience that led to this).

In this week’s episode, I dive into the often-misunderstood topic of Black women and our boundaries.

Why is it that when we assert our standards, it’s seen as a threat or a problem? I unpack the societal pressures that demand we shrink ourselves to make others comfortable and explore the cultural, historical, and personal reasons why this dynamic exists.

From relationships to work and wider culture, I reflect on the strength it takes for us Black girls to set and maintain boundaries, and why we should never apologise for protecting our peace. Hope you enjoy.

Across social media, thousands of young black women are coming online to bravely share their less than ideal experiences existing and working in modern corporate work places.

In this episode I share my recent personal experience in what I believed at the time to be my dream job and how months of targeting, isolation, harassment and racially charged interactions eventually led to me leaving after 10 months to preserve my mental health, physical health and self esteem as a Black woman.
