Publisher's Summary:
To those who study plants, the Chamala represents the Holy Grail. Finding it would be the discovery of a lifetime - make that a dozen lifetimes. It produces a berry with phytochemistry possessing the unique ability to hyperstimulate nerve cell reproduction.
It will be instrumental in the development of the next generation of biopharmaceuticals capable of curing blindness, deafness, dementia and paralysis. Famous botanist, Doctor Liberty Belle Corcoran, may have the inside track in the search for the Chamala plant. While speaking at the Global Federation of Botanists' annual symposium on the island of Mahé, she learns of its possible location from the mysterious Cheung brothers.
There is one small problem, however. It grows somewhere in an unexplored mountainous region of West Papua, Indonesia, on the island of New Guinea, and is closely guarded by a primitive tribe of cannibals who hold the Chamala berry sacred. Libby will have to get past them if she is to succeed, and they plan to take the Chamala's location and its secret with them to their graves, along with anyone who interferes.
Members Reviews:
Worst book I have ever listened to- Don't buy it!!
Would you try another book from Mason Malone and/or Charles Dee Smith?
Not if it was like this one. I was looking for an adventure seeking a rare plant. Instead, I was bombarded with sex, lesbianism and a book with no plot. This book was so boring, I would NEVER buy another from either of these two.
What was most disappointing about Mason Malones story?
The book had no plot. It droned on endlessly about a botanist who was seeking sex. The lesbian scene made me want to throw up. Mason Malone is a loser at writing novels. Don't buy this or any other of his works.
What didnt you like about Charles Dee Smiths performance?
Smith sounds like a hillbilly from a little mountain town somewhere. He mispronounces words through the reading of the book. He can't pronounce "fungi" correctly. He kept mispronouncing the capital city of the Seychelles (I know how it is pronounced- I have been there!) and his reading and inflection was very poor.
What character would you cut from The Chamala Quest?
All of them. The book SUCKS!
Any additional comments?
I hope the next book I order on audible is better. I have had some really great books so far. This was NOT one of them!
