Publisher's Summary:
A dazzling story of two sisters and their emotional journey through love, loyalty and heartbreak.
Two sisters - Miranda, the older, responsible one, always her younger sister's protector; Lucia, the headstrong, unpredictable one, whose impulses are huge and, often, life changing. When their mother dies and Lucia starts hearing voices, it is Miranda who must find a way to reach her sister. But Lucia impetuously plows ahead, marrying a bighearted older man only to leave him suddenly to have a baby with a young Latino immigrant. She moves her new family from the States to Ecuador and back again, but the bitter constant is that she is in fact mentally ill. Lucia lives life on a grand scale until, inevitably, she crashes to earth.
Miranda leaves her own self-contained life in Switzerland to rescue her sister again - but only Lucia can decide whether she wants to be saved. The bonds of sisterly devotion stretch across oceans - but what does it take to break them?
Told in alternating points of view, Everything Here Is Beautiful is, at its heart, the story of a young woman's quest to find fulfilment and a life unconstrained by her illness. But it's also an unforgettable, gut-wrenching story of the sacrifices we make to truly love someone - and when loyalty to oneself must prevail over all.

Beautifully Transforming
This novel does Not disappoint.
It was hard to put down; there was never a dull moment.
This book is so much more than the bonds that tie between sisters. It is about families, immigration, mental illness, loyalties, love, forgiveness, and caregiving.
The sisterly bond that Miranda and Lucia share as sisters also resonated with me as a parent caring for my own child suffering from Serious Mental Illness (SMI). Miranda was the older sister, who took on the mothering role of her little sister, Lucia, when she was born.
These ordinary characters living ordinary lives were so extraordinarily developed, believable, and real.
I was consumed by and bathed in all the myriad of deep emotions that the characters embodied and provoked in me; love, joy, nurturing, fear, acceptance, courage, excitement, disbelief, empathy, disappointment, anger, pain, forgiveness, denial, sadness, hope, isolation, understanding, grief...the list goes on.
Each of the characters selflessly give precious gifts of lessons in humanity; that subtly transformed my being forever.
Beautiful, powerful story of unconditional sisterly love
Heartwrenching, beautiful, simply amazing! I felt deeply for and loved every complex and flawed character. Especially meaningful for those with sisterly bonds and those whom have dealt with mental illness in the family. I'll be recovering from a 'book coma' while singing this book's praises for a long while. This unique gem tops my favorite-of-favorites of all time.
Could not put it down; a must read for anyone remotely interested in mental illness...
Beautiful, just beautiful... And heartbraking. This story really describes very, very accurately what a severe mental illness means for the individual but also everyone around them, and all the questions we still don't have answers to. Like, where does personality end and mental illness begin ? What I loved most though is that the sister with the illness still has amazing experiences and lives a rich and meaningful life, although a short one.
