First Comes Love by Emily Giffin is a novel told from the alternating perspectives of two sisters, Josie and Meredith, who are still struggling with the tragic death of Daniel, their older brother. Daniel was killed in a car accident 15 years earlier. Although Josie, an elementary school teacher, and Meredith, a lawyer, have never gotten along, the sudden loss of their brother only pushes them farther apart. First Comes Love explores sisterhood, grief, and the bond of deep sibling love that overcomes even the thorniest of relationships.
In 2001, just before Christmas, 25-year-old Daniel Garland, a medical student, was visiting his parents and two sisters in Atlanta, Georgia. He had just introduced his family to Sophie, a fellow med student and the woman he intended to marry. The day after his 25th birthday, Daniel told his mother that he was going out to get a hamburger and died.

Instaread distills this novel into a short read. This review summarizes the book and brings out its best parts. There is a summary of the story, analysis of the characters, and insight on the themes. I especially loved the section about generosity, which talked about how the sisters received plenty of generosity from everyone else, but not from each other. Sometimes its easy to forgive strangers, but not our family. I was given a copy of this book to review.
TWO SISTERS EXTENDED GRIEF OVER THE LOSS OF THEIR PROFESSIONALLY-EVOLVING-BROTHER, 15 YEARS EARLIER
This is an overview of the actual book âFirst Comes Love.â Kind of like an abbreviated âCliff's Notesâ for the FULL book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding the bookâs content to determine if we want to invest the extra money and time to actually buy and read the entire book. This is a 'modern-era' novel about two sisters (adults) who continue to 'grieve' the loss of their Medical Sudent brother who died fifteen years earlier in 2001. At .99 cents, this summary is a good value, which is one of the reasons I have personally found âInstareadâ to be a useful service.
Love and hate between siblings are two sides of the same coin
Summary of First Comes Love by Emily Griffin from Instaread is a comprehensive analysis of a novel about two sisters, Josie and Meredith, who are dealing with the tragic death of their brother several years before the story begins.
