Powerful story.
This is goes with the book Closure. Sylvia Stein really knows how to capture her readers. I got this in audio, and the narrator is amazing as well.
Garrison is Sara's father. He is struggling with addiction of alcohol. After losing his wife to cancer.
Again this is a powerful story and I recommend this story to everyone.
Read it and be Happy you did!
I bought the book, took the journey with Garrison and the author and wasn't disappointed and I am glad I did. Alcoholism is a misunderstood and alienating disease that destroys families everyday. In this great story, the author Stein delivers real plausible dilemmas via a simple premise of a journal, but is able to create real life characters. I especially love the crescendo that is palpable when Garrison has a full blown panic attack. I felt sorry for the man, wow!! I definitely recommend the book and I look forward to more books from this talented author.
Forgiveness
The Diary of a Broken father tells of his life and how he hurt the person most valuable to him, his daughter. Deciding he needed a change in his life after the fact of his daughter being taken from him by a sister in law. So he signs himself up for AA. This is his story and what he went through to get forgiveness from his only child his daughter. Easy road ? No way! Garrison will fight many demons down the road of recovery. Not only with demons but also with God. I'm sure there are many people can relate to this story. Sad but it happens way to much. Is it to late can Garrison beat the alcohol? Will he be able to change and get forgiveness from his daughter? Great novella to read. Strong characters.
Review of Diary of A Broken Father
Now that life has stopped getting in the way I can finally do a review on this truly inspiring book, Diary of a Broken Father by Sylvia Stein. So, why call t inspiring you might ask. Well I picked this book up when I was dealing with a lot of problems. And, it inspired me to seek out the help I needed.
No, I am not an alcoholic like the main character. I am a smoker who canât seem to quit as you well know already if you are one of our regular readers. But, this book though small is intense and emotional and will make you cry at times.
If you have read Closure by Sylvia Stein you are already familiar with the main character but if not you are still able to relate to him as well. Though I recommend reading both personally. It is even more impactful that way.
Also, kudos to the author for all her research into recovering alcoholics and how they might write and what they might suffer as is shown in this book. Also, kudos to showing how stubborn us men can be about going to the doctor.
