The foundations for achieving gender equality lie in supportive legislation and robust childcare systems. Loa and Rúna emphasize that equality begins at home, with decision-making around the kitchen table. We can create a more equitable society by promoting equal opportunities within families and encouraging shared responsibilities. Moreover, the benefits of parental leave and childcare systems cannot be understated in advancing gender equality.
Investing in Equality:While it may require financial investment, building a society that ensures equality for all should be a priority. Loa argues that equality is not a zero-sum game but a win-win situation for humanity. Investing in inequality can foster improved macroeconomic performance, enhance lives, and create opportunities for everyone. As we invest in infrastructure and defence, investing in inequality should be seen as crucial to societal well-being.
