“The Lord is my shepherd… I shall not want”.
David writes these timeless words--the 23rd Psalm is quite possibly the most familiar passage of scripture-- (second only to John 3:16, or maybe the Lord’s prayer right?).
I sometimes feel like we’ve cluttered up the Christian life. In trying to conceptualize or describe “what” it means to walk with Jesus, we may have mistakenly created this outer-shell, (the do’s and don’ts) of our faith-- and we sometimes need a reminder of the heart of the matter-- the core value of our lives is to know God, to be known by Him, and to have relationship with Him. That is made possible, by Jesus alone-- and he prepares a table for you. All we need to do is simply sit down-- and stay at the table.
Many thanks to the Dayspring Music Ministry, and Crystal Martin, Heather Curtis, Kent Miller and Jeff Bargerstock for their wonderful recording of "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" at the end of this episode.
Why did the Lord prepare the table in the presence of the enemies?
So the enemy sees and is reminded of how Glorious the Lord is!
He seeks to destroy everything the Lord is doing-- and by us staying at the table, focusing on Jesus our Good Shepherd-- the enemy is constantly reminded of his failure and future demise.
This is a key factor in our understanding of WORSHIP!
So all those around us see how glorious the Lord is, and be drawn to HIM!
Jesus, the Good Shepherd provides us with an ABUNDANCE Mindset-- not a scarcity mindset! We are free to share what we have received.
Matthew 10:5-8 5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
This is a key factor in our understanding of WITNESS!
So we remember that we have the authority to dismiss the enemy from our table, every day.
Be gone, Satan. You’ve been lying to me, distracting me, undermining my Lord’s work.
James 4:7: 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
This is a key factor in understanding of WARFARE!
Worship, Witness, and Warfare-- That’s a pretty good summary of three core parts of our lives, right? But it all starts with sitting down, turning our eyes upon Jesus, and Staying at the Table.
