In episode one of The Chia Podcast, I reflect on my journey to veganism, addressing body dysmorphia, disordered eating patterns, and a way out: a plant-based lifestyle.
However, diving headfirst into the vegan lifestyle was not without doubt and road bumps. I reflect on being vegan for three years, as well as comparing the labels "vegan" and "meat-eater", the importance of effective advocacy & respect for all people when addressing diets, as well as representation/stereotypes for both vegans and omnivores while maintaining an objective perspective of veganism at large.
This episode will be a joy for vegans and non-vegans alike, as we discuss existing hypocrisies in the vegan community, what it really means to implement compassion and empathy towards the exploitation of both animals AND HUMANS (i.e.) migrant farm workers) and reveal a huge vegan organization with a devastating disconnect in regards to what it means to respect other beings in the first place.
It's unlikely you'll find a vegan as laid-back, perceptive and understanding of everyone's backgrounds when discussing veganism. This episode is saturated with honest, personal experiences and realizations about veganism. All listeners will feel empowered and educated, not shamed or guilted! Seriously, I wish someone had been around three years ago to address everything we talk about in this episode today. You won't want to miss out.
