The Children's Hour

This time on The Children's Hour we're growing with kids, in a visit with farmer Joseph Brophy Toledo from the Flower Hill Institute in Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico. We learn about their farming research lab and where kids fit in.

We also meet Kateri Seva from the Albuquerque Public School Gardens program, and we learn about how gardens fit into the mission of education.

This time on The Children's Hour, we visit with acclaimed children's musician Susie Tallman, whose music makes everyone want to sing along. From the classics to her original work, her music enables kids of all ages to sing and learn.

What games do you play, and why do you love to play them? This time on The Children's Hour, the Kids Crew share some their favorite games, and Katie reviews the card game, The 5 Second Rule. We also get riddled with questions from our puzzle maker, Riya Joshi, and we hear from the kids in the Extinction Diaries about the hottest year on record. Mixed with great music! Play along with us!

This time on The Children's Hour, we take a dive into the very basics of Civics education with lifelong educator and community leader Arthur Lieber. We explore how kids can help bring our country together, and build a brighter future. Then we hear from our friends at the Extinction Diaries about marine plankton, a tiny ocean critter upon whom life on Earth depends. Mixed with excellent music. Learn with us!

This time on The Children's Hour we head under the sea, to the Albuquerque Aquarium. Our program was recorded before a live audience in 2019 and features three of the aquarists. One swims with the sharks, another grows coral, and the third is the keeper of the aquarium's otters. We also hear a Nigerian folktale told by storyteller Ramona King. Mixed with great music, and featuring our Kids Crew & Katie.

New Mexico's State Bird is famous as a cartoon character, but it turns out not much was known by scientists about the roadrunner until Tina Guo took on these birds for her senior thesis. Learn about roadrunners with us on The Children's Hour.

Live from Keshet Arts with dance instructors and students, and live music by Felix y Los Gatos. Join us for an hour of dance education, music, and fun.

This time on The Children's Hour we are celebrating the best of 2020, which came to us in the form of Children's Music! The Kindie music industry exploded with creativity, releasing hundreds of amazing songs. We hear from longtime children's favorites like Laurie Berkner and Raffi, as well as soon to be legendary artists like Pierce Freelon and SaulPaul.

We're celebrating the holidays on The Children's Hour with some of our favorite traditional and nontraditional Christmas, Hanukkah and wintery songs. Our Kids Crew share how they celebrate the holidays, including walking Las Posadas, lighting luminaras and menorahs, and surprise visits from Santa.

Happy Holidays from all of us at The Children's Hour!
