Judah “turned aside” from his brothers and compromised with the Canaanites. His sons were judged because “Ur… was wicked in the sight of the Lord.” Blind to his own sin, Judah feared Tamar would cause his last son to die. God exposes him when she declares, “Please identify whose these are.” Judah repents: “She is more righteous than I.” God chooses the repentant to carry His promises.
