  • EP 121: Dr. Curtis Fedorchuk: Patient Advocacy Through Chiropractic Research

    Dr. Curtis Fedorchuk is the founder of Better Health by Design, which is located in Cumming, Georgia. Dr. Fedorchuk has a focused practice on spinal rehab and wellness and has been practicing in North Georgia for over 16 years. He earned his Green Card by being categorized by United States Immigration with an EB-1 Visa: Alien With Extraordinary Ability. He is Advanced certified in Chiropractic Biophysics but is also an Instructor and taught at the world’s largest chiropractic school for 5 years while practicing full time.

    He is a contributing author to research journals, as well as serving on the peer review panel. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for CBP Non Profit and for the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation. He is on the Editorial Board of Pediatric, Maternal, Family Health, Chiropractic. He is also the past head Chair for Research for the Georgia Chiropractic Council. He also teaches Continuing Education for other chiropractors and has traveled around North America and as far a Puerto Rico in 2014.

    Dr. Fedorchuk has dozens of published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and has collaborated in clinical investigations with institutions such as Life University, Florida Atlantic University, and Emory University. He was selected for platform presentation in Gold Coast Australia by the International Chiropractors Association Council on Pediatrics and later won 2nd place at the 2008 International Research and Philosophy Conference (IRAPS) for Best Science paper. In September of 2009 and again in 2013 he was awarded “CBP Researcher of the Year.” In November of 2009, he was awarded “CLA Researcher of the Year.” Recently in 2015, he was awarded “Chiropractor of the Year” by CBP Non-Profit and in 2016 Researcher of the Year for the FVS. In 2017 he received Researcher of the Year for the third time by CBP Non-Profit.

    He has been a chiropractic advocate since age 10, and attributes much of his very healthy life to the chiropractic lifestyle he follows. He still plays ice hockey, and rides his mountain bike with his son but in the past has played volleyball, basketball, soccer, motocross racing, snowmobiling,duathlons, and long distance bike riding including the Six Gap ride in Dahlonega GA.

    In the office, patients are comforted by his always-upbeat presence and excellent bedside manner. His meticulous and gentle nature ensures patients receive the care that they need even if that requires a referral. He takes great pride in his work as he strives to see all his patients reach a new improved level of living.

  • EP 119: Dr. Joel Alcantara: Evidence-Informed Pediatric Chiropractic Care

    Joel Alcantara, DC is the Research Director for ICPA. Dr. Alcantara was born in the Phillipines and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Prior to attending chiropractic college, he was trained in chemistry-biochemistry and cellular, molecular and microbial biology at the University of Calgary. Upon graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 1995, he was given a full-time faculty appointment at his alma mater in the Research Department.

    Currently, Dr. Alcantara holds the distinct position of Chair of Pediatric Research at Life Chiropractic College West. His research at Life West compliments his research activities for the ICPA. With a collaboration formed between ICPA and Life West, Dr. Alcantara leads his research team to investigate quality of life in children under chiropractic care and biomechanics of the pediatric spine.

    He is a seasoned researcher in chiropractic care with numerous publications and conference presentations. Dr. Alcantara has been instrumental in implementing the Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) at ICPA and involving ICPA members in publishing research on chiropractic care. He is credited with the success and growth of the largest Practice-Based Research Network in Chiropractic which conducts projects in North America, Australia, and Europe. In addition to assisting candidates in accomplishing the research requirement for their certification, Dr. Alcantara is an instructor for the ICPA Certification Program and teaches the seminar Research: Evidence-Informed Practice.

  • EP 114: Dr. Shelby Loughridge: Illuminating the Path for Family Health

    After growing up with Chiropractic and in a holistic healing model, Dr. Shelby recognized early on the incredible design of the human body and its ability to heal naturally. From a young age, she knew she was meant to spend her life serving and connecting with others and chiropractic was calling to do so. After high school, she attended college at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where her love for the profession deepened as she worked as a chiropractic assistant in several practices learning and soaking in every clinic gem. 

    During chiropractic school at Parker University in Dallas, she discovered her passion for serving pregnant moms and children. She spent 2.5 years as the Pediatric Club President on campus and attended numerous continuing education seminars to better serve her future practice members. She opened her practice in McKinney, TX two months after graduation and although there have been struggles, she has loved the process.

Headed to work now let me send it to you once I get there 10:22 AM   Dr. Rebecca Rizk started her journey in the health field when she was accepted into the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic college while in her 3rd year of her bachelor’s in human kinetics at the University of Ottawa. She completed four years of rigorous study and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2018. During her time she was thoroughly trained in soft tissue therapy, spinal and extremity mobilization/manipulation and rehabilitation. Her passion to help others thrive is what led her to the profession. She believes in a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Her interest in health and fitness began at a very young age where she played competitive hockey in Canada. Her ultimate purpose is to help patients improve their quality of life through conservative care without the use of drugs and surgery. She strives to remain current in the research and chiropractic techniques. She values educating and building trustworthy relationships with her patients.
