In Part 2 of their season 2 debut, Chris and Tom give their takes on Russia: How profit-driven corporate media has muddied the situation literally beyond comprehension, how might the situation escalate or resolve, what the effects would be on the rest of the world, and why unilateral authority will always be a grave problem. Are we really watching the the final gasps of imperialism? And though it currently yields massive engagement, could exposure fatigue lead to a point where an actively raging battle is buried alive beneath a thousand other sensational headlines???
...And also there are some dogs making noises! You can't miss that!
They're baaaack!
The duo kicks off the premiere of their second season on as upbeat a note as ever with a two-part episode about Death. Specifically, their own brushes with mortality, how corporations can exploit the innate human fear of death for big profits, and how one of December's biggest news stories, the 3-d printable Suicide Pod, might be the final frontier of bodily autonomy. Also discussed are new trends in baby names and the oligarchy's push to get you back in the office already, you lazy slug! Three things in life are inevitable: Death, Taxes, and that this episode will improve your quality of life.
With the bizarrely warm weather, the total lack of snow (at least here in the northeast US), and a possible resurgence in the pandemic, it's understandable if you're not really feeling the Christmas spirit this year. But fear not friend! Chris and Tom have you covered: from Christmas movie ideas, to favorite (and also least favorite) holiday songs, to new pitches for Christmas movies that are sure to be classics, and why Christmas spirit as a whole has experienced a "fall-off" over the past few years even before the pandemic, the duo really decks the halls with all things Christmas. Whether you're singing ancient yuletide carols, or aren't feeling even the slightest bit holly and/or jolly, missing this episode is a surefire way to land on the naughty list!
Drunken Fights! Hot Dice! Coolers Full of Dead Bodies! On this 30th Episode special (even though that's technically a lie because it's not really episode 30), Chris and Tom recount the many tales of debauchery from a recent voyage to Atlantic City, discuss how disciplinary action can help to mend the sometimes-less-than-honest perception that the public can have for a certain industry, and wonder what the actual odds are that this very podcast would survive a whole 30 (or so) episodes. Both hosts also share their favorite episodes from the first season, and check the stats to see which ones you, the listener, liked most--- because in a world of vice and degeneracy, only the numbers don't lie.
This Thanksgiving, it's easy to be disenfranchised by the current state of world affairs. But if the past is any indication, we should be thankful now, because nobody knows what the future has in store! In this episode, Chris and Tom reminisce over the last 21 years and name something from each year that they're thankful for. Favorite movies, favorite albums, favorite memories-- take a stroll with Chris and Tom through the past 21 years, and maybe you'll recall something of your own to appreciate!
You've probably heard the percentage of Fortune 500 CEOs that are psychopaths can range from 1 in 25 to as high as 1 in 5, depending on the survey. Have you ever wondered why?
Chris, despite having a terrible day, and Tom tackle the possible reasons behind it, why and how those behaviors are incentivized, and how we can discourage this kind of manipulative mentality through compassion and camaraderie to create a better work environment for everybody.
Chris and Tom are joined by Matt Levy, friend of the show and automotive technician-turned-tool salesman, to lend an insider perspective on why car repairs can be so expensive, why the right tools for the right job are so important, what the uncertain future of the automotive industry and right-to-repair legislation could look like, and how, ultimately, time is money--- Or, more specifically, how labor time is your money. How does the business of tool sales work? What other roles can the tool truck salesman play in his local route? What's it really like inside a garage, and why is it so hard to find younger people to follow in the footsteps of the older generations? Whether you're a car enthusiast, casual driver, or don't know a tie rod from a torque wrench, this episode will get you up to speed on everything auto, and what it means for you, the consumer.
Don't shoot the messenger! Chris and Tom tackle gun safety from a layman's perspective, and really reiterate the importance of safety basics-- as well as the necessity of trained union workers-- in doing so. But does the media play a role in how this issue is presented? And what, if anything, does the gun-owning public take from it all?
Frights and delights abound on this All Hallow's Eve special. Chris and Tom pick Halloween-themed topics at random to discuss, from worst horror directors to which candies are sure to get your house TP'd. So come along through the winding forest path, on a dark and stormy night--or in your warm car on a bright morning, if that's your thing--for the spookiest episode of the series yet!
