This is where it all comes together. Across two episodes we explored a lost Egypt — a civilization called Khemit, its pyramids as machines, its knowledge far older than the textbooks allow. In this finale, Stephen Mehler takes us into his boldest claim of all: that the religions billions of people follow today can be traced back to ancient Egypt — and to one remarkable king.
We start at the beginning, with the difference between spirituality and religion, and a cataclysm some 11,500 years ago. From there we follow the long descent — the birth of astronomy and astrology, the shift from a wordless, intuitive knowing into written language, and the turn of the ages that carried the world from light into darkness.
At the center stands Akhenaten. Stephen makes the case that this pharaoh was a reformer and an enlightened teacher, both masculine and feminine — a figure so threatening that Egypt defaced his images and tried to erase him from history. We trace what his message was, why it failed, and how his ideas carry forward into the birth of Judaism, the formation of the Israelites, and eventually the Rosicrucian tradition.
It's a sweeping argument, and you can take it as history or as provocation. But the deepest message is the one that matters most: that every faith may be reaching toward the same forgotten truth, that women once stood at the center of it, and that waking up begins with the willingness to question everything you were taught.
About Stephen S. Mehler
Stephen Mehler's fascination with ancient Egypt began at age eight and has guided his life's work ever since. He holds three degrees in the sciences, is a trained field archaeologist and prehistorian, and served as a staff research scientist for the Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) from 1978–1980.
From 1992 to 2008 he was a student, disciple, and close friend of Egyptian-born Egyptologist and indigenous wisdom keeper Abd'El Hakim Awyan (1926–2008), known as Hakim. Drawing on that work and more than 45 years of his own research, Stephen wrote The Land of Osiris (2001) and From Light Into Darkness (2005). He directs his own Land of Osiris Research Project and, since 2009, leads tours to Egypt with the Khemit School of Ancient Mysticism. He has also researched crystal skulls since 1979 and co-authored The Crystal Skulls with David Hatcher Childress (2008).
