People ask me a lot in my DM‘s what I’m doing in Germany, how did I get to Germany etc. and I thought it would be nice to do an episode on my Au-pair story since I’m rounding up this season of my life!
I started off working as a stay-in-Nanny before embarking on my Au-pair journey. I did a three month language course in Namibia at the Goethe Institut and I opened a profile for myself on aupairworld.com where I looked for a host family. I also reached out to Clara‘s Au Pair Agency to help me find a host family and I actually paid for the first part of my application process. However at the end of the day, I found my house family through a friend of mine, she actually recommended me to her previous host family:) and I matched the family‘s profile. So that’s I got my family. I forgot to mention that the age requirement to work as an Au-pair in Germany is between 18-26 years old, hence I was so adamant to come to Germany before I turned 26 years old last year (lol).
If you know of someone or maybe you are that someone that loves children and traveling, Au-pair might just be for you :).
