Have you ever taken a second to examine your life and ask yourself if you're doing things for a specific reason, or just for the elusive "more"? Dealing with Crohn's Disease for over a decade made host Nathan Ohlson slow wayyy down and examine his life and how he was living it. Are you on a merry-go-round of doing what's "right" and "responsible" or are you on a path to living the life of your dreams? It's especially important with chronic illnesses like Ulcerative Colitis, IBD, and IBS to concentrate our sometimes limited energy on things that will move us in the direction we want to go.

Turns out, even when we set goals, write down our values, and practice good habits we can still sometimes get derailed for a period. When faced with times of change and a huge challenge like Crohn's Disease, which fuel do you tend to use? Do you tend to revert to gratitude, love, and joy, or the more painful emotions like worry, anxiety, and fear? What habits do you have in place to get you back on track?

We've all dealt with trauma in the past, be it major or minor. Many of those emotions and pains get caught in our bodies and can potentially influence Crohn's and Colitis flares. The #1 most common denominator that I've discovered repeatedly in people with Crohn's and Colitis is massive undealt with stress in their lives. I wrote off the effects of stress, trauma, and emotional baggage for years, and it caused me years of lost health. I'd encourage you to take a small step towards healing the inside be it yoga, meditation, vulnerability with your partner, or simply sitting in silence breathing for 10 minutes a day.
Today on the Chronic Warrior Show we have guest Jenna Pettit who diagnosed with severe Crohn's, went through the wringer with medication and doctors, but is currently completely off medication. Today we discuss PTSD, trauma, and its effects on the body.

Guilt and shame play a massive role in our health, and yet so often go unresolved. If we're battling a chronic illness like Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, these two emotions can run our lives. From missing work to not being able to hang out with friends, being chronically ill can run our self-worth into the ground.
Today Coach Nate talks with Dr. Danielle McGinnis. She is a Doctor of Physical Therapy turned Integrative Life Coach.
"I’m an empath at heart with a deep desire to help others merge the brain, body, and spirit. My mission is to offer physical, emotional, and spiritual healing to individuals through my coaching methodologies that emphasize balancing unconscious masculine and feminine principles within to become the most authentic and expressed version of yourself that you and the world deserves. My goal is to offer a light of optimism in a judgment-free space to all walks of life. I coach others with compassion and empathy because everybody on this earth serves a purpose and it is an injustice to not understand your true strengths and gifts."

Doing something purely for the sake of "having fun" these days is looked down upon. Things are only "fun" if they are also "productive". Because we've demonized fun and pleasure so much, now it's become that the only way to have "fun" is to get sloshed and do things that are horrible for our bodies.
Today on The Chronic Warrior Show, host Nate Ohlson looks at how doing things just for fun is an essential part of a healthy and happy life, a key ingredient on the path to overcoming Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, IBS, IBD, or other chronic illnesses.
