As we end our series on Genesis, we have to ask an important question. What have we learned? We've covered a lot of people, places, and events, but if all we have are facts, we've missed the point. As we conclude Genesis today, let's highlight three important themes we've learned from our study.

We now arrive at the final verses of Genesis. However, as Genesis ends, it becomes clear there is still more to come. As we look at these last 12 verses, the focus continues to be on the future, and there is still much we can learn. As Joseph interacts with his brothers, let's pay attention to how these verses teach us to live in the present while we focus on the future.

It's safe to say that most of us probably had a favorite teacher or two in school. We probably also had a few that were not our favorite. However, you don't have to like a teacher to learn from them. In today's passage, Jacob dies. And we can learn a lot from death. It may be our least favorite teacher, but we don't want to miss the lessons death has to teach us.

We are passionate about so many things: family, possessions, our job, etc. However, are we passionate about the one who matters most, God? Listen this week as Pastor Eddie asks the question, "What are we saying when we say we have a passion for God?"

Thanksgiving is just like possum innards. It's just as good the second day. (Fans of The Beverly Hillbillies will appreciate the reference.) Contrary to what the calendar may say, Thanksgiving is not a one-day event. True Thanksgiving is much more. It is a way of life that begins with a thankful heart. It is the way we must approach our relationship with God. Listen as Pastor Eddie helps us develop the habit of thanksgiving that we can carry with us all year.

Christmas is over. The gifts are all unwrapped. Do you have a favorite? As 2018 comes to an end, let's take one last opportunity to remind ourselves of the greatest gift ever given, the gift that was given for all.
