King Solomon told us in Ecclesiastes 1:9 "What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun." This truth applies to temptation. There are no new temptations. Satan is limited to the same old tricks, and yet we continue to fall for them. Let's look to our Savior and discover how we can overcome these temptations in our life.

Imagine having an adversary who is always out to destroy you. Now, imagine you have a copy of their playbook. You know all their tricks and tactics. It's much easier to prepare for an attack when you know your opponent's every move. The truth is, we do have an adversary. However, God has also given us his playbook. We can prepare for the attack and be ready to resist his advances.

I've often heard the saying, "No matter how good you are, there is always someone better." This is never more true than when we are talking about our sinless Savior--Jesus Christ. He is better in every way. Luke 4 records the temptation of Jesus, this is an excellent passage for us to see the truth that Jesus is better.

As we climb into the branches of Jesus' family tree, we find a lot of names. Some well known, some unknown. The more time we spend looking into these names we find God doesn't always use the people we might expect. The past couple of weeks we have been looking at the life and ministry and of John the Baptist. We first looked at his calling and context, then, last week, we looked at his message. This week, we want to look at the practical side of repentance. We want to know what repentance will actually look like in our everyday life.
