“I am the way, the truth, and the life…” Jesus makes clear who he is in these words. No path to eternal life apart from him. After betrayal and denial Jesus offers a way forward. He says in John 14, “Let not your hearts be troubled.” Jesus takes our eyes off ourselves and our circumstances and points us to himself. When we hear the words of Jesus and respond everything changes for us. We move from being troubled to being tasked for the mission. As we believe in Jesus the road before us becomes clear, accessible, and realistic. Jesus moves us from pursuing a destination to participating in the work of the kingdom.
