In this episode I walk through Romans 9 verse by verse and explain what the text is saying. Having been a Calvinist, it took a long time for me to take those lenses off and read Romans 9 without seeing double predestination to heaven and hell in the text. I hope this episode offers a new perspective and demonstrates that the Calvinist interpretation of Romans 9 is not the only interpretation one can come away with by walking through the text verse by verse. In this encyclical letter to Smyrna, we read the account of the capture and martyrdom of Polycarp, along with an inside look at the private life of Polycarp, who prayed day and night for all men.

In this episode, we read the one and only epistle we have written by Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna, so often mentioned in the various epistles of Ignatius. These two bishop were friends and both disciples of the apostle John.

In this writing, we are given an accounting of the events coming before, during, and after Ignatius' martyrdom, or, as Ignatius would put it, his finally attaining to Jesus Christ.

In this epistle, we have Ignatius writing to a bishop, a dear friend of his, Polycarp. We have hears Polycarp mentioned in the previous letters to the various churches, and now we see a letter written directly to Polycarp himself.
