The church of Christ on McDermott Road

Godliness is about being devoted to God in reverence and piety. In many ways, the Christian home should be a miniature version of the church. Just as Bible studies, prayers, and praise are a regular part of “church life,” they should also be part of “family life.” What can we do to make sure our homes are growing in godliness? (Scripture 2 Peter 1:3-8)

The Christian life is not a sprint, but a marathon. Our families need to be training for the marathon of Christian living, so we have the ability to “go the distance” and remain faithful until we each cross the finish line. What are we doing in our homes to help one another develop steadfastness? (Scripture: 2 Peter 1:3-8)

Within every human heart are passions, desires, and impulses of the flesh. These must be restrained if we wish to keep ourselves from sin. The strength required for this restraint requires spiritual exercise, training, and discipline. What sort of spiritual training is happening in our homes so we can become more self-controlled families? (Scripture: 2 Peter 1:3-8)

A Christian home should be a place of curiosity, wonder, and learning. What fosters a spirit of learning and what hampers a spirit of learning? How can we encourage one another to be growing in knowledge? (Scripture 2 Peter 1:3-8)

Peter encourages his readers to add to their faith virtue. The word “virtue” refers to a person of unusually excellent character, an upstanding citizen, or a model member of the community. What defines Christian virtue and how is virtue taught, modeled, encouraged, and expected in our homes? (Scripture: 2 Peter 1:3-8)
