It’s all about film musicals this week as Billy, Jake, Emily and Adam explore the features of the genre and pick out their favourites.

There are musicals through the decades including Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Little Shop of Horrors (1986), The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall (2011) Tick Tick Boom (2021) and what appears to be everyone’s favourite Singin’ in the Rain (1952).

The chat covers the performances, storytelling, props, sequences and, of course, the all-important songs.

This week the focus is Studio Ghibli, the critically acclaimed Japanese animation studio. The studio officially began in 1985, but the recognisable style and themes are evident in even earlier work such as Castle of Cagliostro (1979) which is mentioned a few times in this episode.
