In this 2 part episode, I chat to two of the best working editors in Hollywood working right now. Richard Molina has worked on many films, such as, Hunger Games, Life and was the 1st Assistant editor on "The Revenant." Stephen Mirrione, has worked on nearly all of Alejandro González Iñárritu's films, he was the Chief editor of "The Revenant," and actually won and Oscar in editing for the film, Traffic. In Part 1 - Rich and Stephen give there take on how they got into editing, the pressures of being an editor, the relationship between the editing team and the director, their initial thoughts on working on "The Revenant" and the difficulties of editing footage which has been shot in a continuous long take, as Alejandro Iñárritu did for the movie. Anybody interested in film this is definitely not one to be missed as these guys provide a wealth of knowledge. Any keen editors out there be sure to listen in!!!
Part 2 - will focus more in depth onto "The Revenant", discussing specific scenes, the actors and Alejandro's direction. Stay tuned at the same time next week for that one!!!!
