“Our anxiety need not be antithetical to joy and hope but God’s invitation to relinquish control and experience hope and rest in Christ.” - @janicechinchern
In week 3 of our sermon series — Christ is Risen, Ps Janice leads us to look at a moment in John 20 where we find Mary Magdalene weeping outside the tomb of Jesus. In her anxiousness, she fails to recognise the angels, and even Jesus. It was when Jesus calls out to her the second time that she recognises Jesus.
Do we sometime find ourselves like Mary? We might not realise our anxiousness, amidst shifting circumstances and sudden changes, yet we find trying to find something to have certainty and control over. But Jesus call us like how He calls to Mary, from anxious seeking to faithful witness. Jesus gave her not only His presence, and assurance but a direction to go.
As we enter our week, may we bring our anxiousness to Jesus. Declaring our faith in Him rather than ourselves and allowing him to bring His presence, His assurance and His direction.
