Tim shared an encouraging word on A Peculiar Hope, for week five of our study in 1 Peter. Acknowledging common sentiments on evangelism in the modern church, Tim shared about how we can recapture a vision for evangelism, by first rediscovering the good news of the gospel in our own lives and finding conviction in leading a compelling life for God. We pray that you were blessed by the word, and challenged to rediscover the lordship, hope and gentleness of Christ, as we seek to live and bear witness of His goodness.

In Week 4 of A Study in 1 Peter, Ps. Janice shares on how we are to be Exiles in Marriage. 1 Peter tells us that in our pursuit of following in Christ’s example, doing good and enduring suffering is pleasing to Him. Likewise, we are meant to reflect this in our marriage and adopt a sacrificial, self-giving way of love that runs countercultural to this world. As wives submit to their husbands, and husbands honour their wives, let us be reminded to set our hope fully on God, His authority and purpose. May we lean in in our submission to him, and in doing so, deepen our love for one another.

We had the privilege of having Ps. Miles speak to us on catching a vision for both the church and our lives. He spoke from Luke 5, and explored what we can learn from Simon’s responses to Jesus’ instructions, by not letting his past dictate his future, being obedient to God’s word and watching out for new possibilities.

Ps. Andre brought us through Week 3 of Our Study on 1 Peter, and called for us as chosen people of God to be A Provocative Hope in our world. There are forces and principalities in our world that are seeking to win over our hearts and allegiances. Peter admonishes us to be sober and alert, by ridding ourselves of ways that are not in line with our identity, and centring ourselves in God’s word.

May we be reminded that we are citizens of heaven, called to live compelling, distinct lives that shine and burn for the gospel. Let the manner of our living provoke those around us to glorify Him on the day of His return.

In today’s continuation in our study of 1 Peter, Ps. Janice spoke on Our Hope & Our Way of Life. In 1 Peter 13, Peter tells us to “gird up the loins of our mind, be sober and rest your hope fully upon the grace… at the revelation of Jesus Christ”, which is a command to prepare our minds for action to live a life that’s holy and conforms to the image of Jesus. Let God enable you to conduct yourself with fear and reverence towards Him, for your life to be shaped by the heavenly hope that only He can provide, and for you to be holy just as He is holy.
