  • The City View, from City A.M., with Michael Spencer
In this episode Christian is joined by billionaire financier and City grandee Michael Spencer.
Spencer urges the government to "be brave" in easing the UK out of lockdown - a state of affairs he described as "agonising". He warns of lasting damage to the British economy and to businesses if we don't get the economy up and running again as soon as possible.
    In a wide-ranging interview, Spencer:
    - Suggests that the Prime Minister's own experience of coronavirus "may incline him to a more cautious approach" to easing the lockdown
    - Warns that the hospitality sector in particular faces "a profoundly challenging outlook" and that it's "almost impossible to conceive how restaurants can take customers on any commercial basis - if social distancing is maintained"
    - Says that the government's economic support measures will see national debt reaching "eye-watering numbers"
    - Stresses the need for a robust free-market response to the economic challenges presented by the global pandemic
    - Urges the government not to extend the December deadline for a Brexit deal

  • The City View, from City A.M., with Priya Lakhani OBE
In this episode, Christian is joined by Priya Lakhani, founder and CEO of Century - an AI-powered education platform.
Priya, who served as a business adviser to the coalition government, gives a candid and forthright assessment of the government's support packages for businesses. The £500m Future Fund, unveiled by chancellor Rishi Sunak as a way to help startups during the pandemic, is "woefully inadequate" according to Priya, who says no founder could agree to the terms on offer.
Priya's platform, Century, is currently supporting schools and pupils during lockdown, assisting with home-learning. She talks about the role of technology in education and discusses the ways in which learning and testing should change in the future.
Also in this episode, Christian looks at the government's latest thinking on how to ease the economy out of lockdown; Warren Buffet's flight from the aviation sector; and Elon Musk's latest - and very costly - Twitter outburst.

As a leading figure in the City's gender diversity and equality movement, Vivienne also considers the impact remote working has had on gender balance.
Also in this episode, Christian looks at the latest warning to banks from the Financial Conduct Authority; grim data from the manufacturing sector; and the latest stand-off in the Brexit negotiations.

In this episode Christian is joined by Miles Celic, chief executive of The City UK - the membership group for financial and professional services, a sector accounting for 10 per cent of the UK's economic output.
The sector is also under intense pressure to keep the economic wheels of the country turning during the crisis, and will have a huge role to play in rebuilding the economy in the months and years ahead.
Miles makes a spirited defence of the banking sector, which has been criticised for the low volumes of loans granted to businesses under the government's schemes, and says the industry is doing everything it can to support as many people and businesses as possible.

  • The City View, from City A.M., with Dr Gerard Lyons
In this episode Christian is joined by Dr Gerard Lyons, former economic adviser to Boris Johnson.
Gerard gives his expert analysis of the current state of the UK economy and offers a stark warning to the government that failure to revamp the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) will see firms go to the wall. While he commends the government for action in other areas, his warnings about the CBILS should not go unheard.
The question of how a country moves out of lockdown was the subject of Gerard's latest paper in conjunction with City A.M. columnist Paul Ormerod, and he sets out his advice to the government on how to switch an economy back on.

  • The City View, from City A.M., with Dr Alan Mendoza
In this episode Christian talks to foreign-policy specialist Dr Alan Mendoza about China's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, amid suggestions that Chinese authorities should be held to account for the global damage caused by the outbreak.
Dr Mendoza is one of the UK's leading foreign-policy experts and his organisation - the Henry Jackson Society - has just published a paper arguing for international legal action against the Chinese state on the grounds that the Communist authorities deliberately covered up the spread of the virus.
As the world grapples with the pandemic - and its human and economic costs - Dr Mendoza predicts a recalibration of Western foreign and economic policy towards China in a post-pandemic world.
Also in this episode, Christian takes aim at online conspiracy theories; welcomes the City minister's letter of thanks to financial service workers; and highlights a worrying slump in confidence among the UK's tech startups.
