"Father," said the frantic voice on the phone. "I think a demon is chasing me!" As a priest, calls like this in the middle of the night do not surprise me. I told this trouble person to come into my office early the next morning. I'd be happy to pray with him, to give him bottles of holy water, rosaries, blessed medals, you name it. However, when I told him the best thing he could do to get the devil off his back (if indeed his issues were spiritual), his face immediately fell. His kingdom faced off with another; and he was not ready to step off his throne.
