 -Michael Gungor was a worship leader turned christian music star turned church planter. Then, he abandoned his faith and became an atheist for a time. The latest is that Gungor is some kind of Progressive Spiritualist. Last week he went viral with some of his thoughts on faith and the church. We will break those down and see if they hold up under scrutiny!

 -On the theological front, pastor John Piper created an accidental firestorm when he complained about people drinking coffee during church. This controversy now called #Coffeegate is, on the surface, as silly as it sounds; however, it also points to an extremely broken view of the church itself!

All that AND ONE look at the Taylor SWIFT effect that has taken over the National Football League. Pop Star Taylor Swift is dating NFL Star Travis Kielce and their new love has taken over the world. What lesson might we be missing in all of this if we were willing to dig a little deeper?

Louis has decided that mass immigration making America less prosperous and more dangerous is actually a good thing! America is spoiled and shouldn’t stand out from other countries in terms of prosperity and affluence. Is he right? Is it unfair for America to be so wealthy and safe? 
-Speaking of American’s - a new poll shows many American adults cannot name a single branch of government. Increasingly, we are a population that complains about our country while having no actual knowledge of how it functions. Why does this issue keep getting worse and what does it mean for the future of America? 
-Meanwhile, one of our branches of government has UPDATED, or downgraded depending on who you ask, their dress code. No longer are Senators expected to dress to impress. Does this matter? Are suits and ties a stodgy relic of the past? How do we think about dress-codes and other traditions? 


All that AND ONE last segment looking at the allegations against comedian/podcaster Russel Brand. Serious misconduct has been alleged in the British media and, consequently, Brand has been culturally cancelled in some big ways! I went to Brand’s own writings on the subject of his past indiscretions to look for clues on how he might think about this and was very interested by what I found!

Some say that putting your desires out into the universe makes your dreams come true. Others are let down by the new-age religious system… How do we think about this resurgent trend? 
 -Meanwhile, on the political front, an Impeachment inquiry has been opened by house republicans against President Joe Biden. The reason for the inquiry is Joe’s involvement in Hunter’s business dealings and the potential for corrupt influence peddling. Are we now living in a world where the majority of president’s will get impeached? Is this healthy for the country and how should we handle this news? 
 -Staying on the political front… Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert caused controversy when her and her boyfriend were escorted out of Beetlejuice at a Denver Theater for a whole host of reasons. Allegedly, the conservative Boebert was vaping, lying about the vaping, talking loudly, being inappropriate with her boyfriend and taking flash photography. Once escorted out, reports say she flipped off security guards and threatened to “call the mayor.”…. Boebert has risen to political fame because of her conservative values and stances to protect children and uphold family values. How is this not a giant contradiction towards what she stands for? 


All that AND ONE last segment looking at the newest Miley Cyrus song called “Used to Be Young.” Has Miley turned over a new leaf in her life? Is she maturing out of her party girl phase? How do we think about past seasons of our life that we just aren’t too proud of?

 -NY Mayor Eric Adams went viral complaining that the crisis on the US southern border could result in the total destruction of New York City. For years, Adams and others have had a MUCH different tune about the border and the policies they assumed should work. Now that the issue actually has hit home, have they changed their minds? How do we think through this extremely complex and emotion-laden issue? 
 -Continuing the theme of action and consequence - We look at the crazy spectacle of 70,000 people who got trapped at Burning man with dwindling water and food but no short supply of drugs and sexual encounters! Some saw this as an unfortunate weather event While others believed this was a judgment from God on an event steeped in Hedonism… Who is right and what does it mean for our view of the DIVINE? 
 -Speaking of Divine Judgment - there may be no greater example in scripture than God demolishing the twin cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Most secular thinkers and historians have assumed that this, along with most of scripture, is simple ancient Mesopotamian myth. However, in the last 50 years archeological discoveries continue to bolster the claims that the Old Testament is, in fact, a historical record. That withstanding, SURELY S&G is a fairly-tale, right?! WELL, a blockbuster discovery may just prove that assumption wrong! 


All that AND ONE look at the Texas law seeking to protect minors from viewing pornography. The law was stuck down by a US District judge after a lawsuit was brought claiming it violated the constitutionally protected right of “Free Speech.” Which begs the question - does hardcore pornography meet the standards necessary to be covered as free-speech? While many act like the law is unclear and subjective, I’ll make the case - it’s actually quite clear, we just don’t want to see it!

Mayor Brandon Johnson is taking a… um UNIQUE approach to solving this issue - He is suing carmakers KIA and HYUNDAI for making their vehicles TOO easy to steal! What does this odd strategy say about the state of law and order in Chicago?
- The first round of Republican Debates took place and, although Trump was not present - it was clear he has forever altered the tone and tenor of political debates from here on out. Who were the winners and losers from this first sparring session and, more importantly - are the debates ACTUALLY useful in helping the American people decide who should be their candidate of choice?

-We look at the controversy out of Chino Hills School District where the new “Parental Notification” Policy has sparked a massive debate. According to the new policy, parents MUST be notified if students begin identifying as the opposite sex, using different names or pronouns, or using bathrooms or locker rooms of the opposite gender… The issue is so potent that even the Attorney General of California is investigating and may press charges against the school! 
What does this say about how society views the role of parents and educators in raising children?
- Unknown Musical Artist Oliver Anthony became an overnight sensation when his song, “Rich Men North of Richmond” went massively viral. The song is a stinging, and very direct critique of the government that millions of people feel they can relate to. Others have critiqued the song as unkind, hypocritical, and even racist somehow?… Why has this song touched such a nerve and who is the real Oliver Anthony? 
- Throughout the devastating Maui wildfires that have claimed over a hundred lives, the response from Joe Biden has been SHARPLY criticized. From taking multiple vacations as the fires raged, to answering “no comment” when asked his thoughts on the tragedy… Now, Biden has made it to the island and may have come under his sharpest criticism yet - exposing a pattern in his leadership that I think needs to be examined - a habit we could all learn from!

All that AND ONE look at the drama surrounding the real-life NFL player from the hit movie, “The Blind Side.” Michael Oher, now retired from the NFL, says he just learned THIS YEAR that the family who took him in never Legally Adopted him and that they have profited off of his story without him ever receiving compensation for it! The Tuohy family (made famous by Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw), dispute all of his claims and say they are bringing receipts to prove their innocence…. Who is the villain in this story? And what can we learn about how easy it is to drive a wedge through a fairy-tale story?

Is Ron DeSantis trying to promote slavery as something that was good for those enslaved? ORRR Is this all being taken out of context and used for political means?
