The Clear Quran episodes

  • 2-1. The Cow (Al-Baqarah الْبَقَرة) verses 1 to 29

    This episode contains the first 29 verses of Surah Al-Baqarah only. Insyallah, I will try to complete them part by part as this is a very long surah. The longest (286 verses) out of the 114 surahs in the Quran.

    The messages for this episode covers revelations on Qualities of the Believers, Qualities of the Disbelievers, Qualities of the Hypocrites, Hypocrites' Example, Order to Worship God Alone, The Challenge of the Quran, Reward of the Believers, Wisdom Behind Parables and God's Creation.

    Sypnosis from The Clear Quran book by Dr. Mustafa Khattab:
    This Medinian sûrah, which takes its name from the story of the cow in verses 91–121, details the main concepts of the previous sûrah, with emphasis on the qualities of the believers, disbelievers, and hypocrites; Allah’s power to create and resurrect; the enmity of Satan towards Adam and his descendants; as well as Allah's covenant with Moses and the Children of Israel. Several rulings are given in regards to marital, relationships, bequest, jihad, fasting, pilgrimage, donations, debts, and interest. Unlike the next chapter, which focuses on the Christian perception of Jesus, this sûrah dedicates a sizable portion to Jewish attitudes and practices.

    This is a Prayer for Guidance.

    Sypnosis from The Clear Quran book by Dr. Mustafa Khattab:
    This Meccan sûrah (which means chapter that has been revealed in Mecca) is recited a total of seventeen times in the five daily prayers, serves as the cornerstone of the Quran. It sums up the relationship between the Creator and His creation, Allah’s undisputed authority in this world and the Hereafter, and humanity’s constant dependence on Him for guidance and assistance. The underlying theme is to acknowledge that He is the only god worthy of worship—a simple truth which the disbelievers fail to grasp. All fundamental principles encapsulated in this sûrah are spelled out in the rest of the Quran.

  • The Clear Quran - Arabic with English translation
    Trailer and Introduction
    Assalamu'alaikum wr.wb. my dear brothers & sisters,
    There is always room to expand our knowledge of God's message to us, through His book, the holy Quran.
    Through one of my own life's crises, I discovered that the Quran was my saving grace as it took me from the darkest place to a place where I found my purpose in life and finding the deepest tranquillity.
    I used to listen daily on Spotify, the Quran recitations by Al-Mishary with its English translation by Ibrahim Walk, as I commute to and from work, many years ago. This work 'The Clear Quran' is similar. Just using a different reciter and translator.
    My first podcast, '365 days with the Prophet Muhammad' which I started 2 years ago has more than 10K episodes played so far. I am not sure if this is a good success rate but for every listener that gets to hear the seerah (history story) of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, I am pleased and humbled. I hope the same will happen to this podcast too. Please make du'a for me that I can complete it!
    I have chosen Khalifah Taniji for his crystal clear recitations of the Quran. As for the English translation, I have decided to use Dr. Mustafa Khattab's version from his book, 'The Clear Quran'.
    There are other English translations that I really like for example, from Yusuf Ali, Pickhall, Maududi and Abdel Halim. Sahih International was my first English translated version that I  read and listened to daily but eventually, you will 'shop around' to check out other English translation books of the Quran too. No translated work of the Quran can ever come close in comparison in meaning as its original Arabic language. So let's make supplication that we, as non-native Arab speakers, get to learn Arabic language and get the full understanding of the words in the Quran when we recite it.
    I make a number of references to www.quran.com as well as the book by Dr.Mustafa Khattab called The Clear Quran, which I highly recommend that you get a copy.
    May Allah SWT bless this humble work and may it bring benefit to the ummah. Nothing can come to being except through Allah's will and His inspiration.
