Eastside student Brooklyn Funchess lets us know a few things happening around the Clinton Public School District during October of 2024.

From the start of the 2nd Nine Weeks to National Custodian Appreciation Day to Walk to School Day to District Celebrations and Extracurriculars, October is slated to be a fantastic month!

Clinton Park's longtime principal Kelli Pope talked about how Clinton Park Elementary school earned its A-Rating, coming in as the third-ranked elementary school according to the 2024 MDE rankings. We also explored how teachers and students utilize their time to ensure success for the "Littlest Arrows."

I sat down with CHS Student Council sponsors Hannah Rachel Smith and Erin Ghaffarian to talk about the traditions of CHS's Homecoming week. We dove into the preparation process, how the parade and spirit week have expanded to other campuses, and more.

Clinton students now have the opportunity to take advantage of a wonderful service provided by AccelerateMS and the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District (or CMPDD) on their own campus. 

Jana Carter, who has a long history as an Arrow, is CHS's new Career Coach. Her mission is to serve the students at CHS, adding another layer of help when guiding that ever-nagging question of what to do after high school. 

She shared a few of her thoughts and goals with us about her duty to tomorrow's workforce. 

Great teachers do not simply "appear." They put in countless hours and many years of hard work, sharpening their craft and investing into hundreds of students.

Every "seasoned" educator started as a first year teacher, and I had the chance to sit down with one of Clinton's newest educators, Zaria White.

We talked about her journey into education as well as how she has already found veteran teachers who have supported her in her first year at Eastside.

I had the chance to sit down with Clinton's Culinary Instructors, Chef Catherine Bruce and Chef Joshua Phillips. If you haven't heard about the amazing things going on with CHS's Culinary Arts, you've certainly missed a sweet treat (pun intended). 

As they've both poured into their programs, the expectations have risen as well, leading these two chefs intentionally working on build a sustainable product and continuing to grow.

In this episode, we get a glimpse at Sumner Hill's Reality Fair and dive deep into CPSD's unique take on academic intervention. 

Ninety 2nd through 6th graders competed in CPSD's largest ever chess tournament, competing for top honors and a trophy. Eastside ACCENT teacher Lisa Saucier visited with us to talk about the value in teaching chess to students. 

We also had the chance to visit Clinton High School's Culinary Arts class to experience "Sandwich Wars." Chef Bruce's students pitted Ruebens vs Cubans to see which sandwich is the best. 

Eastside Principal Mandy Taylor also talked with us about  her mission to create an environment where teachers and students live out the campus's call to "Be the Light."

Dr. Andy Schoggin serves as CPSD's sixth Superintendent of Schools. With a semester under his belt, he's gotten to know a good bit about the school district and community. He sat down with us to talk a little about his philosophy of leadership and what he sees as the future of the Clinton Public School District.

This episode is also an episode all about encouragement. Our students have done a wonderful job of journeying through the past two years. Though challenges presented themselves to more than 5,200 students, they have continued to persevere and encourage each other along the way. We get to hear words of encouragement from 11 Clinton students to their fellow students (and to you as well).
