The international break has given us plenty to talk about — and possibly a few more reasons to question just how much football players are being asked to play.
In this episode of The Clock End Taproom, we look at Bukayo Saka’s goals for England, the latest injury concerns around Arsenal’s international players, and whether the increasingly packed football calendar is becoming unsustainable.
We also return to the Manchester City charges and the wider fallout from that story, before taking a trip around the international games — including France, Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo, plus the controversy surrounding Ireland against Israel.
On the agenda:
Plenty of opinions, disagreements and the usual Taproom tangents along the way.

Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 charges — so what happens now, and what does it mean for the wider game?
In this episode of The Clock End Taproom, we break down what City were charged with, how the case compares with punishments handed to clubs like Chelsea, Everton and Nottingham Forest, and whether this ranks among the biggest sporting scandals of recent times.
We also discuss the appeal process, possible sanctions, the impact of state ownership and billionaire investment on football, and ask a difficult question: how would we feel if this were Arsenal?
Plus, we look at what all of this says about the modern game — and whether football can still call itself a level playing field.

Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton didn’t come out of nowhere.
For weeks, the warning signs have been there — poor attacking performances, fine margins, a left-wing problem that still hasn’t been solved, and Bukayo Saka struggling to make the same impact.
In this episode of The Clock End Taproom, we ask whether Arsenal have simply been getting away with it.
We discuss:
Plus, we kick off the show with True or False and Stock Up / Stock Down.

Napoli 0-1 Arsenal — another win, another clean sheet and another night where Arsenal's opponents simply couldn't lay a glove on them.
The performance wasn't always pretty. Arsenal struggled to break down Napoli in the first half, the finishing left plenty to be desired and several huge chances went begging — but Martin Ødegaard eventually produced a brilliant winner to secure three massive Champions League points away from home.
Fize and Nath give their instant reaction from Naples and discuss:
🔥 Ødegaard back to his VERY best
🧱 Arsenal's incredible control and defensive strength
😬 Why the finishing has to improve
🇩🇪 How important Kai Havertz has become
🤔 Does Arsenal's style actually suit Viktor Gyökeres?
❓ More questions over Eberechi Eze
💪 Ezri Konsa stepping up in Saliba's absence
⭐ Declan Rice making elite performances look normal
🔄 Arsenal's incredible squad depth
It wasn't a classic — but is this exactly what an elite team looks like?
Arsenal can now win games in different ways, rotate players, control difficult away grounds and keep opponents at arm's length.

Are Arsenal now the best team in the world?
After another huge Premier League win over Chelsea, Dave, Fize and Nath take a second look at Arsenal's performance — and ask just how good this team has become.
We discuss Chelsea's threat, Arsenal's control of the game, the debate around Kai Havertz, whether the old “Set Piece FC” label still has any meaning, Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya and Arsenal's incredible defensive unit.
Plus, with the Champions League returning, we look ahead to Arsenal's European campaign and ask whether this could finally be the team capable of going all the way.
Is David Raya the best goalkeeper in the world? Are Arsenal actually BETTER without relying on set pieces? And after winning the Premier League, how much further can this team go?

Arsenal are spending big and building a squad to win right now — but is there a danger this strategy comes back to bite them?
This week in The Clock End Taproom, we take a closer look at Arsenal’s transfer strategy under Andrea Berta. With significant fees being spent on experienced players, we ask whether going all-in on the present is exactly what Arsenal need to finally get over the line — or whether they're creating a problem for the future.
We also get into the latest transfer talk, Gabriel Martinelli’s future and whether Arsenal should consider letting him go, before heading around the Premier League to pick apart the big results from the opening weekend.
🍺 Grab a drink and join us in the Taproom.
Are Arsenal right to go all-in and win now, or is it a dangerous gamble?
