What if your body isn't broken—but adapting to the signals it receives every day?
In this special solo series of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I'm taking you down the rabbit hole into the science behind The FutureYou Method™ and the framework that now guides my work:
Foundations → Signals → Adaptation → Resilience
After more than 30 years in health and fitness—and my own health breakdown after years of endurance training, chronic stress, under-recovery, and trying to do everything "right"—I learned that we can't simply keep pushing harder when the body stops responding.
We need to ask better questions.
What signals is the body receiving?
What is it adapting to?
And what does it need us to BUILD before we ask it to BURN?
Throughout this series, we'll connect the dots between muscle, metabolism, mitochondria, the nervous system, vagal signaling, digestion, hormones, blood flow, lymphatic flow, recovery, energy availability, and healthy aging.
We'll explore why exercise, protein, food, fasting, sleep, stress, breathing, light, movement, and recovery are more than lifestyle habits.
They are biological signals.
And when those signals are mismatched with your current capacity, even strategies we consider "healthy" can become additional stress.
That is why my work today is built around three different ways of helping you move from guessing to understanding—and then into action.
TEST — PNOĒ Metabolic TestingSometimes we need objective data.
With PNOĒ Resting and Active Metabolic Testing, I look beyond a single calorie number or VO₂ max score to identify patterns in resting metabolism, fuel utilization, breathing, exercise metabolism, metabolic flexibility, recovery, and potential clues about how your body is responding to its current environment.
My philosophy is simple:
Test. Don't guess.
INVESTIGATE — Personalized FutureYou Method™When your story is more complicated, we need to connect more dots.
My personalized work using The FutureYou Method™ brings together your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, nutrition, training, recovery, functional health information, and metabolic patterns to investigate the bigger picture.
Instead of chasing individual symptoms, we ask:
What are the upstream signals contributing to the downstream patterns?
Then we build a personalized roadmap designed to restore capacity and resilience from the inside out.
BUILD — The FutureYou Method™ Group ProgramAnd sometimes you don't need another advanced protocol.
You need the foundations in the right order.
My group program begins with Muscle Health & Metabolism — Build Before You Burn, where we focus on creating the signals required to build and maintain muscle, support metabolism, recover from training, and become more resilient as we age.
From there, we continue into FLOW—supporting the nervous system, circulation, lymph, fascia, oxygen delivery, and drainage—and then Digest • Absorb • Build, where we focus on digestion, nutrient absorption, gut function, and providing the raw materials required to repair and rebuild.
Together, these three approaches give us different entry points into the same mission:
Test when we need data. Investigate when we need answers. Build when we need stronger foundations.
Throughout this solo series, I'll help you understand the science behind all three.
Because this isn't about chasing another supplement, biohack, diet, workout, or longevity trend.
It's about understanding what your body is communicating, identifying the signals that may be driving adaptation, and creating the conditions that allow your body to become stronger and more resilient.
Build before you burn.
Foundations before optimization.
The right signals, in the right order.
Because your future health isn't created someday.
Your future self is being built by the signals you create today.
Welcome to Build Your FutureYou.
What if your chronological age doesn't tell the whole story of how you're aging?
In this episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I sit down with Dr. Miranda Naylor to explore an important question for women in midlife:
Can we actually influence the rate at which we age?
Dr. Naylor is on a mission to help high-achieving women better understand their hormones and take back control of how they age. Together, we dive into the difference between chronological age and biological age, what happens to our cells and hormones through perimenopause and menopause, and why the choices we make today can influence our health and resilience for years to come.
In this conversation, we discuss:
• Chronological age vs. biological age • What biological aging actually means • Can we influence how quickly our bodies age? • Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause • Why cellular health becomes increasingly important in midlife • How lifestyle and environmental signals influence our biology • What women can do now to support healthier aging • Why midlife should be an opportunity to become more proactive—not simply accept declining health as "normal aging"
This conversation aligns beautifully with what I teach through The FutureYou Method™:
Foundations → Signals → Adaptation → Resilience → FutureYou™
We cannot stop the clock, but we can become more intentional about the signals we give our bodies today.
Your future self is being built by the signals you create today.

What if aging isn't simply something we have to accept—but a biological process scientists may eventually be able to influence?
In this episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I sit down with longevity researcher Dr. Bill Andrews, who has spent more than three decades studying telomeres, telomerase, cellular aging, and the possibility of extending human healthspan.
Dr. Andrews' fascination with aging began as a child when his father challenged him to grow up and help find a cure for aging. That mission eventually led him into groundbreaking telomere and telomerase research—and it continues to drive his work today.
We dive into what happens at the cellular level as we get older and, importantly, what we can do TODAY to support our healthspan while longevity science continues to evolve.
In this episode, we explore:• What actually happens to our cells as we age • What telomeres are and why they matter • The role of telomerase in cellular aging • Why telomeres shorten over time • Genetics versus lifestyle in the aging process • Exercise, stress, recovery, and longevity • Whether too much endurance exercise can become a stressor • The connection between muscle health and healthy aging • Telomerase and the important question of cancer risk • Where longevity and anti-aging research may be heading next • What we can do TODAY while science continues searching for ways to extend healthy human lifespan
Dr. Andrews is also an accomplished ultramarathon runner who completed the legendary Badwater 135, giving him a unique perspective on exercise, resilience, performance, recovery, and longevity.
Aging, Resilience & The FutureYou Method™This conversation connects perfectly with what I teach through The FutureYou Method™:
Foundations → Signals → Adaptation → Resilience → FutureYou™
We cannot control every aspect of aging, but the signals we send our bodies every day through nutrition, movement, muscle-building, sleep, stress, recovery, and our environment matter.
Healthy aging isn't only about adding years to your life. It's about building the strength, metabolic health, resilience, and capacity to keep doing what you love as you get older.
Your future self is being built by the signals you create today.

Can you be incredibly fit—and still develop atrial fibrillation (AFib)?
In this episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I sit down with Angie, Heart Wellness Coach, to explore why endurance athletes and active adults over 40 are not immune to AFib and other heart rhythm challenges.
We go beyond the heart itself to look at the interconnected factors that may influence cardiovascular health as we age—including the nervous system, inflammation, oxidative stress, sleep, gut health, mineral balance, hydration, recovery, nutrition, and metabolic health.
In this episode, we discuss:
• Why AFib can show up in aging endurance athletes • The connection between the autonomic nervous system, vagus nerve, HRV, and heart rhythm • Sleep apnea, chronic stress, and inadequate recovery • Gut health, inflammation, and cardiovascular health • Magnesium, electrolytes, hydration, and mineral balance • Protein, muscle health, and metabolic resilience • Why being "fit" doesn't always mean your body is resilient • Practical ways to support your heart and whole-body health as you age
This conversation fits into a much bigger message I continue to share:
Your body isn't broken—it's adapting to the signals it receives.

What if the habits that once made you fitter are now keeping you stuck?
In this episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I sit down with Brad Kearns for a conversation about healthy aging, metabolic resilience, muscle health, recovery, and why many active adults over 40 discover that simply training harder and doing more no longer produces the results it once did.
As we move through midlife, the goal isn't just to exercise more or burn more calories. We need to create the right signals that allow the body to adapt, repair, build, and become more resilient.
In this episode, we discuss:Why metabolism and recovery can change in midlife
Why maintaining and building muscle becomes increasingly important as we age
The difference between productive training stress and chronic overload
Metabolic flexibility and its role in performance and longevity
Endurance training: when it builds resilience and when too much can work against you
Why recovery is part of the training equation—not something separate from it
How active adults can train smarter to stay strong, fit, and capable for decades to come
Shifting from the "do more" mindset toward sending the right signals in the right order
This episode is especially relevant for runners, cyclists, triathletes, CrossFit athletes, weekend warriors, and other high-performing adults who want to continue doing what they love as they age.
Your body isn't simply responding to how hard you train. It's responding to the combination of signals it receives from training, nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery, movement, and your environment.
The goal is not just fitness today.
It's building the resilience you'll need for your FutureYou™.

What if your gut issues aren't just about what you eat—but how well you digest, absorb, and actually use what you eat?
In this episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, Debbie sits down with Steven Wright, founder of Healthy Gut, to explore why digestive function may be one of the most overlooked foundations of energy, recovery, immune health, metabolism, and resilience as we age.
Steven brings an engineer's mindset to gut health, helping us look beyond symptom chasing and ask a better question: What conditions does the body need to properly digest, absorb, repair, and rebuild?
In this episode, Debbie and Steven dive into:
• Why stomach acid (HCl) is essential for protein digestion and nutrient absorption • Why reflux symptoms may not always mean too much stomach acid • Digest → Absorb → Build: why eating the right foods isn't enough if you can't properly break them down and use them • How restrictive diets such as low-FODMAP, carnivore, keto, and SCD can be useful tools—but may not be long-term solutions • Why gut health is about much more than probiotics and adding more bacteria • What butyrate is and why it matters for the intestinal barrier, immune regulation, metabolism, and whole-body health • How diet and the gut environment influence our natural production of butyrate • The connection between the gut mucus layer, butyrate, and Akkermansia • Why the parasympathetic nervous system and vagus nerve matter for digestion • How eating while stressed, rushing, working, or driving can interfere with digestive signaling • Where to start when you've tried diets, probiotics, supplements, and gut protocols but still feel stuck
This conversation connects directly to Debbie's FutureYou Blueprint™ philosophy:
Foundations create the signals. Signals drive adaptation. Adaptation builds resilience. Resilience shapes your FutureYou.
Gut health isn't simply about eliminating symptoms. It's about rebuilding the foundations that allow your body to digest, absorb, repair, recover, and adapt.
And we're not finished! Steven will return for Part 2, where we'll go deeper into the nervous system, immune system, microbiome, and gut-brain connection.

Carbon 60, Mitochondria and Recovery: Can C60 Support the Aging Athlete? | Ken Swartz
Could Carbon 60 support mitochondrial function, cellular energy, exercise recovery and healthy aging—or are some of the claims ahead of the human research?
In this episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I sit down with longtime C60 researcher and C60 Power co-founder Ken Swartz, also known as "Ken the Scientist."
Ken explains what Carbon 60 is, why its soccer-ball-shaped molecular structure is unique and how C60 is proposed to interact with oxidative stress at the cellular and mitochondrial levels.
We explore:
What Carbon 60 is and how it may work
Oxidative stress, free radicals and mitochondrial health
Why oxidative stress can be both damaging and an essential biological signal
The proposed role of C60 as an SOD and catalase mimic
Exercise-induced oxidative stress, peroxynitrite and muscle soreness
Potential applications for energy, performance and recovery
Whether C60 could interfere with beneficial exercise adaptations
Proposed connections to cellular aging, senescent cells, stem cells and telomeres
Reported effects on hormones and endocrine function
Animal research frequently cited in discussions about C60 and longevity
The difference between laboratory findings, animal research, personal reports and proven human outcomes
Product purity, oil carriers, third-party testing, timing and safety
Why supplements cannot replace nutrition, sleep, movement, stress regulation and recovery
This conversation is especially relevant for middle-aged athletes and high performers who are training hard but experiencing slower recovery, persistent soreness, reduced energy or declining resilience.
The bigger question is not simply, "How do we eliminate oxidative stress?"
We need some oxidative stress to create the signals that stimulate repair and adaptation. The real goal is to improve our capacity to respond to stress, recover from it and return to balance.
Foundations create the signals. Signals drive adaptation. Adaptation builds resilience. Resilience shapes your FutureYou.™
