Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s episode.
This is Linda Etienne, and today we’re talking about something that affects every home, every family, and every child — clean water.
By the end of this episode, you will know how to purify your water safely and how to store it properly at home.
Let’s get started.
⸻
🟦 SEGMENT 1 — Why Clean Water Matters
Did you know that over 2 billion people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water?
Dirty water spreads dangerous illnesses like diarrhea, infections, and dehydration.
Children, infants, and parents are especially at risk.
Our goal today is simple:
To help you learn easy, safe water purification methods that you can use at home starting today.
Because safe water means healthier families.
⸻
🟦 SEGMENT 2 — Method One: Boiling
The safest and most reliable way to purify water is boiling.
Here are the steps:
Bring your water to a rolling boil.
Let it boil for one full minute.
If you live in a high-altitude area, boil for three minutes.
After boiling, allow the water to cool naturally.
Then store it in a clean, covered container.
Boiling kills bacteria, viruses, and parasites that you cannot see.
⸻
🟦 SEGMENT 3 — Method Two: Filtering
Filtering helps remove dirt, debris, and some parasites.
You can use:
• A clean cloth
• A coffee filter
• Or a commercial water filter
If the water is still cloudy after filtering, filter it again.
Very important:
Filtering alone is not always enough.
For best safety, always follow filtering with boiling or bleach purification.
⸻
🟦 SEGMENT 4 — Method Three: Bleach Purification
This method must be done correctly and carefully.
Only use UNSCENTED household bleach.
Do NOT use scented bleach or splash-proof bleach.
Correct amounts:
• 2 drops per liter of water
• Or 8 drops per gallon
Steps:
Add the bleach.
Mix well.
Let the water sit for 30 full minutes.
After 30 minutes, the water should have a faint bleach smell.
If it does — the water is safe to drink.
⸻
🟦 SEGMENT 5 — Safe Water Storage
After your water is purified, it must be stored safely so it does not become contaminated again.
Always:
• Use clean, food-grade containers
• Keep containers tightly covered
• Store in a cool, dark place
• Label with the date
• Use within 24–48 hours if not refrigerated
Safe storage is just as important as purification.
⸻
✅ SEGMENT 6 — Call to Action
By now, you should be able to:
• Purify your water using boiling, filtering, or bleach
• Store your water safely
🎯 Your Action Step This Week:
Choose one purification method and practice it this week.
