We're back this week with our journey of navigating the whole "first time home buyers" chapter. It's not going quite as we envisioned it and doing this while living overseas purchasing a home back in the States during Covid in a highly a sought after area is not a cake walk. This week Abe and Courtney are sharing with you all not only how a Military Family even attempts this process but what their thoughts and views are as first time home buyers. As always they're sharing insights on Veteran/Military Friendly Companies they plan on working with to make their ease and transition back to the States just a little bit easier. This is an interesting chapter for them being that this is their first time moving from overseas back to the States, with a family and buying a house for the first time.
Are a military family too? If so let's be friends and hit us up on @thecollectivejourneypodcast

It's M O N D A Y! Today we're coming at you with what generational trauma could look like? Have you ever heard of inheriting generational trauma? Has your family ever facilitated an open discussion on illnesses, disease or traumatic situations that endured? If you're saying no don't worry ours hasn't either. We're here to change the script on this one! We need to be having more open conversations at home with our families on our family history, traumatic situations we've endured and what we know or think may have been passed down to us. Awareness is key to bettering your mental health sometimes we can't fix the problem if we don't know what the root cause is? Am I right or am I right???
Books we recommend:
It Didn't Start With You - How inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are And How To End The Cycle by Mark Wolynn
Restorative Yoga for Ethnic and Race-Based Stress and Trauma
by Gail Parker, Ph.D Forwards by Octavia F. Raheem and Amy Wheeler, Ph.D

Who is guilty of going down the rabbit hole? Say I and state your name..LOL! We're all guilty right? And who has shared a post without fact checking it and assuming because it's surfing through a trusted social media platform that it's probably true? Probably most of us again, we've all been there and done that. But what we told you that we recently found out that the majority of these news articles that haven't been fact checked and are misleading have stimulated from a freedom of speech website? This week Abe is diving into his latest documentary he watched over the weekend.

What's the craziest thing you've ever done? With it being Women's History Month we wanted to share my story of how and why I moved to Germany. Since the beginning of time women have been placed under a microscope we're told what to do and when to do it and we're constantly fed the narrative that we must receive society's approval prior to doing anything that may stem from out of the ordinary. I wanted to share my story with you all to show that you are allowed to do things differently. I go against the grain a lot but me making a solid decision on my own to move to Germany for personal and professional reasons was my own decision. Go after what you want in life, never be scared, never let anyone dip into your mental space, and own it. We hope after hearing my crazy story it will encourage you all listening to come forth and tell your stories with us as well!
Happy Women's History Month!

Well we're dishing into the details of it this week while briefly sharing what our "college prep" experience was like and how we pivoted into joining the U.S. Air Force instead.
