In honor of Women's History Month, The Committed Collective Podcast has been taken over by the women of The Committed Collective board, Destiny Henderson, Emily Stone, and Kate Lauderbaugh.

For the last and final week of March, Destiny and Emily are joined by guest special guest Joelle Rankins Goodwin! They discuss life in the military, volunteering, side hustles, and all things pageants. 

Joelle Rankins Goodwin is a 1982 graduate of Lincoln High School, in Portland, Oregon she went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of Oregon and a Masters in Psychology from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, she also graduated from the Space Coast Health Institute earning a certificate in Massage Therapy.  Joelle retired from the United States Army after 24 years of service and now works in the Office of Admissions at the University of Oregon.  She is the Past-President of the Lane County Chapter of the University of Oregon Alumni Association, former Co-Director of the Miss Lane County Scholarship Program.  She has served on numerous executive non-profit boards to include, Southtowne Rotary, Episcopal Campus Ministries (ECM), and the HIV Alliance. Joelle is passionate about AIDS/HIV prevention and patient advocacy.  When not working or volunteering, Joelle enjoys bodybuilding and fitness competitions, traveling with her husband Bob and son Ian (25). As a past Mrs. Oregon America, she loves being involved in the world of pageantry and currently holds the title of Mrs. Black Oregon International Ambassador.  Her English Bulldogs Patsy and Abner are constant sources of amusement and makes life in the Rankins/Goodwin household interesting.

This week, Destiny and Emily are joined by guest special guest Katie Sherpe! They discuss managing life during a Covid pandemic, mental health, eating disorders, and ways to stay motivated and empower other women. 

Katie graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Apparel Design. After college, she pursued a career in merchandising and held numerous roles to help influence the business side of retail. While she enjoyed developing her business skills, Katie felt called to more meaningful work and this led her to a marketing and outreach role at an eating disorder treatment center. With a background in building partnerships in her old world, Katie is able to demonstrate her passion for mental health by bringing awareness regarding eating disorders to local communities in Washington State.

On this episode, Destiny, Emily, and Kate are joined by Stephanie Krause, Esq. They discuss women in the law, domestic violence and the social inequalities that exist in a media-driven society

Stephanie received her J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law and B.S. from New York University. Currently, she is Counsel at Paramount Television Studios in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to this, she was the production attorney for several television shows currently on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Apple TV, and HBOMax. Stephanie also actively volunteers as a pro-bono attorney with the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Domestic Violence Project. Before starting her law career, Stephanie worked at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), where she advised songwriter and publisher clients to navigate music royalties.

Julian dives into the evolution of the PGA with minorities and how they have made it a point to be inclusive to all. They also discuss Julian's experience with some of the day to day situations that occur at the private, resort, and public golf courses.
