The Common Sense Gospel

As Christians, we are to walk worthy of the Lord. When we do, our lives show a pattern of faith, humility, sacrifice, and longingfor Christ. Our walk reveals what we value: knowing Jesus, being obedient to Him, pressing forward, and living for the sake of His kingdom.

Mark 15:16–32 takes us into the heart of Jesus’ suffering, where Roman soldiers mock Him as a false king, parade Him through the streets, and nail Him to a cross between criminals. Every insult, every action, every word fulfills Scripture even as the crowds fail to see who stands before them. This passage invites us to witness the King who is rejected, the Savior who is lifted up, and the love that holds Him on the cross, revealing the depth of God’s plan and the hope it creates for us today.

The New Testament calls us to build our marriages on the Cornerstone Himself. When husbands love like Christ, when wives respond with trust and respect, when they both choose humility over pride; and forgiveness over frustration, there is something beautiful that is born out of that kind of godly living. The marriage is all that it was created to be, a living testimony of the gospel.

As Mark 15 begins, we will watch the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders bind Jesus and take Him to Pontius Pilate. With the authority of Rome, Pilate will need to make a decision concerning this Man they call Jesus, the King of the Jews.

As we move into the middle of Season 12, Danny and Kurt will look closely at the suffering that we endure as Christians and the blessings that are found there. Every trial born out of faith and every sacrifice that is made for His name is simply another masterful stroke of God's hand shaping us after the Chief Cornerstone.

In this reading of Mark 14, Danny and Robert will discuss the crooked nature of the Sanhedrin's mock trial and how they broke the law several times during the trial. They will also take a close look at Peter and his denial of the Lord.

The marvelous work of God that is is revealed in the Chief Cornerstone can be seen in His church! Danny and Kurt will consider all that He has done in Jesus. He turns strangers into family and builds us into His living temple. This episode explores what it means to belong, to be placed with purpose, and to be joined together in Christ.

For the Bible student who loves the Lord, things are about to get really tough. Jesus is beginning to step into His passion and we will walk with Him through all of it. There is a large number of wicked men who will stand around Him today, and abuse the very One who has come to rescue them from their sin and from the flames of hell.

As we step into Season 12, Danny and Kurt will focus their study on the Chief Cornerstone, who is Jesus, the Son of God. God has laid him securely in Zion and it is marvelous in our eyes. May God bless you and keep you all as we study God's word together and do all that we can to draw closer to Him.

Jesus has come to the garden of Gethsemane with his 11 apostles. It is in this place that He will take Peter, James, and John, pray to the Father through the night that this cup might be taken away from Him, then He will wait for Judas to arrive and complete the wicked deed that he had agreed to do.
