We want to give our kids everything we can. That can mean we avoid discipline so we don’t hurt them, and we hurt seeing them hurt. But tough love is necessary to give them what they truly need. David avoided discipline with his son Absalom, and it led to a revolt and ultimately, Absalom’s death.
